Hillary Clinton, presidential hopeful
The administration’s handling of Boko Haram is key to understanding how liberal administrations will handle all terrorist threats as al-Qaeda grows throughout the world, smothering freedom and Christianity as it makes its way towards its ultimate goal of destroying their greatest enemy, the bastion of liberty – the United States of America.
A naive and impassive foreign policy that always defaults to appeasement and diplomacy in the face of unremitting evil now consumes every sector of our government. Our foreign policy focuses on the idealistic hope that countries will heal themselves from within if we show them the way. In order to see our future under a President Hillary Clinton, one only has to look at her record, Mr. Obama’s record, and the other people she aligns herself with. Hillary Clinton is Barack Obama is John Kerry. There is little difference.
On November 13, 2013, the State Department finally declared Boko Haram a terrorist organization. It is an affiliate of al Qaeda and they have been slaughtering thousands since 2009.
Hillary Clinton resisted the terrorist designation for Boko Haram because she thought such a move could cause more harm than good by enhancing the group’s standing and making U.S. and Western interests a target of Boko Haram attacks. She chose instead to ignore it. Perhaps it would go away.
In fact, that weak approach has caused them to become more powerful.
When Congress attempted to pass a bill declaring the group a foreign terrorist organization in May of 2012, the State Department lobbied Congress against it.
Why would State lobby against adding this terrorist group to the terror list?
A senior State Department official said the department was “very concerned about violence in Nigeria” and added that it was “looking at this very carefully.”
The official insisted the department was “not stalling or dragging our feet.” But he noted that adding a group to the sanctions list is a “rigorous process which has to stand up in a court of law.”
Daily Beast senior correspondent Josh Rogin reported Wednesday that other government agencies, including the CIA, along with more than a dozen members of Congress had urged the State Department when Clinton was Secretary of State to officially designate the Nigerian Islamist group a terrorist organization.
“The one thing she could have done, the one tool she had at her disposal, she didn’t use. And nobody can say she wasn’t urged to do it. It’s gross hypocrisy,” a former senior U.S. official who was involved in the debate told the Daily Beast. “The FBI, the CIA, and the Justice Department really wanted Boko Haram designated, they wanted the authorities that would provide to go after them, and they voiced that repeatedly to elected officials.”
After thousands more murders and maimings, John Kerry, in November 2013, declared Boko Haram a terrorist group.
The incredibly obliging State Department announcement said this: “These designations are an important and appropriate step, but only one tool in what must be a comprehensive approach by the Nigerian government to counter these groups through a combination of law enforcement, political, and development efforts, as well as military engagement, to help root out violent extremism while also addressing the legitimate concerns of the people of northern Nigeria. All of our assistance to Nigeria stresses the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring that human rights are respected. That assistance and these designations demonstrate U.S. support for the Nigerian people’s fight against Boko Haram and Ansaru.”
In their announcement, they left out the fact that the “legitimate concerns” are the desire for an Islamic Caliphate and the conversion or execution of every Christian left in the area.
Last week, Townhall picked up on the partisan, insular mindset of Secretary of State John Kerry in his response to Boko Haram’s vicious kidnapping of hundreds of school girls.
“The kidnapping of hundreds of children by Boko Haram is an unconscionable crime, and we will do everything possible to support the Nigerian government to return these young women to their homes and to hold the perpetrators to justice,” Kerry said in a speech in Ethiopia.
“I will tell you, my friends, I have seen this scourge of terror across the planet, and so have you,” he continued. “They don’t offer anything except violence. They don’t offer a health care plan, they don’t offer schools. They don’t tell you how to build a nation, they don’t talk about how they will provide jobs. They just tell people, ‘You have to behave the way we tell you to,’ and they will punish you if you don’t.
“Our responsibility and the world’s responsibility is to stand up against that kind if nihilism,” Kerry said.
Their kidnapping was an opportunity for him to get his plug in for Obamacare or perhaps he is so narrow-minded he can’t see beyond his own ideology. Whatever the reason, Kerry saw this as a time to say Boko Haram doesn’t provide healthcare or schooling.
Boko Haram is slaughtering all Christians and any Muslims who get in their way because they are opposed to Christianity and schooling, thereby precluding any need for healthcare or schooling.
Boko Haram is an al-Qaeda partner which is comprised of Sunni Islamic fanatics and mercenaries. They hope to destroy Nigeria as it is currently comprised and replace traditional Islam with a Caliphate that follows strict Sharia Law. Boko Haram means “Western education is forbidden.”
In September of 2013, Boko Haram attacked a Nigerian college, Yobe State College of Agriculture in Potiskum, NE Nigeria. They murdered 42 of the 50 students that had not fled the school and, as they usually do, they cowardly gunned them down as they slept. Classrooms were torched.
The murdered young men who were only trying to learn more about agriculture so they could make their world a better place.
Also in September, about 50 Boko Haram gunmen in cars and on motorcycles carried out attacks on 3 churches and border posts. They torched churches and everything in their way. The goal of the attack was to slaughter Christians. CBS News, an outlet sympathetic to Mr. Obama, sold it as sectarian violence.
Last week, they killed 300 in one village, again, as they slept.
The deadliest attacks are on Christian holidays: ‘An Easter Day blast in Kaduna left at least 38 people dead, and a Christmas Day suicide bombing of a Catholic church near Nigeria’s capital killed at least 44. Boko Haram claimed responsibility for both attacks,’ according to CBS News.
Boko Haram released this statement about the church attacks: “Allah has given us victory in the attacks we launched (Sunday) against churches in Kaduna and Zaria towns which resulted in the deaths of many Christians and security personnel,” the statement said. “Allah has given us victory in the attacks we launched (Sunday) against churches in Kaduna and Zaria towns which resulted in the deaths of many Christians and security personnel.”
CBS claimed that the reprisals ‘highlight festering religious tensions in Nigeria,…The attacks occurred in the religious flashpoint state of Kaduna that sits at the border between the country’s predominantly Muslim north and its mainly Christian south.’
True enough except Boko Haram is a violent and dangerous sect aligned with Al Qaeda that is attempting to commit genocide of Christians. Christian attacks are random efforts to dissuade their attackers or are outbursts of anger.
The Christian pogrom by al-Qaeda, not only Boko Haram is the biggest story never told.
The death toll of those murdered by Boko Haram has passed 12,000 since they formed in 2009. Boko Haram slits throats, gouges out eyes, and predominantly killed Christians, without being declared a terrorist organization.
In August of last year, in order to not attract attention of armed forces with gunfire this Nigerian Taliban slit throats and tortured their victims. They killed 35 in Dumba, Nigeria and gouged out the eyes of 9 survivors.
Hillary Clinton is now calling Boko Haram’s activities “abominable” and Kerry is worried about the lack of healthcare services.
The delayed designation of Boko Haram as a Foreign Terrorist Organization cost us two years of increased scrutiny of the group’s activities and leadership,” Rep. Patrick Meehan, R-Pa., said Thursday in a statement to FoxNews.com. “Boko Haram met the statutory requirements for the designation as early as 2011, but the State Department’s delay has left us with fewer resources and less intelligence on an Islamic terrorist group with ties to al-Qaeda that is clearly destabilizing the region.”
The administration handling of terrorist designations, of which Hillary Clinton is a part, is no different than the handling of other situations involving terrorism.
The administration’s forceful support of The Muslim Brotherhood, particularly in Egypt, is another prime example of an obtuse foreign policy.
Niall Ferguson said it well. Following the February 2011 revolution in Egypt, Harvard professor Niall Ferguson argued that President Obama’s strategic thinking failed to understand the events in the region, writing: “I can think of no more damning indictment of the administration’s strategic thinking than this: it never once considered a scenario in which [Egyptian President] Mubarak faced a popular revolt … All the president and his NSC team seem to have done is to draft touchy-feely speeches like the one he delivered in Cairo early in his presidency.”
Mr. Obama is destroying our military capabilities, cutting troops and weapons. In an appearance at the Pentagon on 5 January 2012, Obama unveiled a far-reaching defense review under which thousands of troops would be cut. The new strategy would end “long-term nation-building with large military footprints”, and would instead pursue a national security strategy based on “smaller conventional ground forces”.
Mr. Obama said it clearly. He was going to make sure that the United States would no longer be able to function as a military force around the world. We are exceptional like any other country is exceptional, like England, Germany, China, Russia or Iran.
The liberal administration’s lack of understanding and acceptance of what terrorists are at their core and how they must be handled, is aiding and abetting terrorists as they slaughter hundreds of thousands around the world on their way to destroying us.
