The Department of InJustice under Loretta Lynch is planning about a dozen new gun regulations as part of a full-fledged assault on our Second Amendment rights. This is as the new AG, Loretta Lynch, is empowering criminals in our inner cities and disemboweling the police.
The ATF is proposing restrictions on high-powered pistols, gun storage, and, under the guise of keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill or those convicted of domestic abuse, they are expanding the criteria to qualify for gun ownership. The Unified Agenda released the information as a slew of federal agencies are rushing to develop a new list of rules.
This was made possible because of the amended EO 12866 and EO13563. On May 10, 2012, a new executive order, “Identifying and Reducing Regulatory Burdens,” was issued. It focused on reducing the costs of regulations to businesses. This EO referred back to a prior EO – 13563 – which had already developed hundreds of new initiatives to “streamline” the regulatory process and save money.
The initiatives do something else too – they change the way they do business in accordance with Obama’s progressive vision.
The real purpose of these EOs was and is to bypass Congress and allow agencies – unelected bureaucrats – to create rules that are actually laws.
The EOs together can force us into compliance with international law. It is a way to possibly force the Small Arms Trade Treaty though piecemeal.
EO12866 was around from 1993 but the political left didn’t like it since it was a bother as they tried to create new and ever more onerous regulations. It required a federal agency to perform an annoying cost-benefit analysis on each regulation it proposed. It also required them to rework it if it was too costly.
Obama had the Office of Budget and Management review it and he said he wanted the report to “clarify the role of the behavioral sciences in formulating regulatory policy.” He then appointed Cass Sunstein as a regulation czar. Cass is the loon who wants animals to have lawyers.
To make a long story short, Obama got his imperial power via agencies which he can now use to control firearm usage.
The behavioral science component allowed Sunstein, famous for his “nudge” theory, and Barack Obama to claim regulations were no longer regulations just as Obama isn’t fundamentally transforming the country.
Nudging us towards heavily regulated gun use has been one of the results of this behavioral science approach. We need these regulations to keep us all safe.
One of the groups they are keeping us safe from are military veterans who are consistently deprived of due process and are having their guns taken away for unconstitutional reasons. Read more on this link.
They plan to go after anyone who has had a domestic dispute, beginning with those convicted. Their end goal is to restrict any gun use by a person who has a friend, a family member, a colleague, a neighbor or a doctor who thinks they are at risk. That has been stated a number of times.
“It’s clear President Obama is beginning his final assault on our Second Amendment rights by forcing his anti-gun agenda on honest law-abiding citizens through executive force,” said Luke O’Dell, vice president of political affairs at the National Association for Gun Rights.
After Sandy Hook, Obama issued 23 EOs regulating gun use but that was only the beginning.
Not one of those regulations would have prevented Sandy Hook.
The rules he is establishing restrict gun use by legal gun owners, not criminals or terrorists. This is at a time when he is making us far less safe.
The Justice Department’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is looking to revive a rule proposed way back in 1998 that would block domestic abusers from owning guns.
“That could be a person who spanked his kid, or yelled at his wife, or slapped her husband,” warned Michael Hammond, legislative counsel for the Gun Owners of America.
The ATF is looking to prevent the mentally ill from owning firearms but in the past they have taken guns from people for merely taking sleep medications or seeing a psychologist. Not everyone who sees a psychologist can’t use a gun responsibly. It’s stereotyping people with mental issues.
