McConnell and Schumer Probably Made a Deal to Not Repeal

There are rumors coming out of D.C. and one discussed by neverTrumper Erick Erickson coincides with revelations by Eric Cantor that Republicans always knew the repeal and replacement of Obamacare was a lie.

It coincides with a number of other factors as well.

The rumor goes like this: McConnell and Schumer have reached a deal on Obamacare. McConnell would push for Obamacare repeal before having secured votes to ensure there is no GOP deal. As a result, Obamacare repeal will fail. The GOP will then be allowed to end the individual mandate and medical device tax. This is the so called “skinny repeal.”

In exchange, Schumer will let the Senate speed the pace of confirmation votes for the President’s nominees.

Then McConnell and Schumer will work together on tax reform, bailing out the failing Obamacare. The revenue from the medical device tax will be replaced with something else.

The something else will likely be a tax on the rich. There are reports out of the White House, announced on Fox & Friends this morning, that Republicans will raise taxes on people making $5 million or more. These are the people who did not support President Trump.

We know that McConnell wants to work with Schumer.

McConnell has said he would work with Democrats and the most horrible Chuck Schumer to fix Obamacare if the repeal fails. He warned Trump at the end of June and at other times that he would be “forced” to compromise and work with Democrats. McCain who controls 10 to 14 senators wants to reach across the aisle to fix Obamacare.

“If we fail, we’re going to be negotiating with Chuck Schumer,” said one Republican staffer.

Democrats are leftists and Republicans are worthless so far.
