How’s that Arab Spring working out for you so far?
If Mohammed Morsi is a moderate, Obama is a conservative.
Mohammed Morsi, the Islamist President of Egypt, wants the U.S. to release the blind Sheikh, Omar Abdul Rahman. That would be the lunatic who helped guide the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center and attempted to bomb other NYC landmarks (Lincoln-Holland Tunnel, George Washington Bridge, and the U.N.). He was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the WTC bombing.
In Cairo today, protesters held up photos of prisoners, including Abdel-Rahman, and Morsi responded by saying, “I will make every effort, I will do it, starting tomorrow, to free them all, including Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman.”
“Everybody is hearing me now. The government . . . the military and the police. . . . No power above this power,” he told the tens of thousands of mostly Islamist supporters packing the square. “I reaffirm to you I will not give up any of the president’s authorities. I can’t afford to do this. I don’t have that right.”
Morsi’s words were a show of defiance as he gets ready for a power struggle with the country’s ruling generals, who took over major presidential powers and disbanded the Islamist-controlled parliament in the days before the election results were released.
I am so glad the “moderates” are now in power.
Sadly, I’m not sure Obama won’t release some of these terrorists if he’s re-elected, “when he’s more flexible.”
