California police officers arrested the man who appears to have sucker punched a black Trump supporter in the face during an anti-illegal immigration rally over the weekend.
The Trump supporter was at an ‘America First’ rally and Antifa were there to silence them.
R.C. Maxwell was “peacefully” speaking with a group of people at Main Beach Park when the counter-protester punched him.
Maxwell, a black Trump supporter, told The LA Times he went to speak with counter-protesters “trying to find commonalities” and was explaining his views when he was attacked. He said he was also pepper-sprayed and choked.
The LA Times reported the story, but called the Antifa, not by name, but as some counter-protesters with bandanas:
In the video, Maxwell is surrounded by a crowd of counter-protesters, some with bandanas covering their faces.
“There is a problem with illegal immigration, I speak out against that, that doesn’t make me a Nazi,” Maxwell says.
“You’re a traitor!” someone shouts over him.
“People want you in chains, dude,” another voice says.
“If you want to keep the peace, you should leave,” someone says.
Shortly after, Maxwell appears to be sucker punched by a man named Richard Losey of Lancaster, Ohio, who fled. Losey joked on social media that the police should come and get him so they did.
Police caught him at the bus station. His bail of $50,000 was posted.
Thug Losey had originally taken a bus to Laguna Beach to launch an offensive against the Trump supporters who were peacefully protesting.
Mr. Maxwell told Fox LA: “I think the fact that I’m a black conservative causes a lot of problems for the left side because there’s no way they can really resolve that according to their narrative of what they think trump supporters are, so I think that was a bit triggering to the other side. I was getting lots of specific comments like you’re a sellout, you’re an Uncle Tom.”
“If the optics were completely different and I was a black lives matter supporter and I was attacked on the Trump side of a protest I would be in the spotlight on CNN right now,” Maxwell said. “I went over to the left side to see if I could engage them with dialogue and I was instantly encircled by the so called anti fascists.”
An NBC News truck can be seen at the scene but they didn’t report it. Only Fox and the LA Times did but the LA Times wouldn’t call out Antifa.
When Fox tried to interview Mr. Maxwell the Antifa thugs surrounded them and wouldn’t let the interview continue.
Mr. Maxwell made a strong stand for free speech.
