It’s not enough that the over-regulation of speech through the Politically Correct scheme is killing our rights to free speech. Now we have NY State Senators jumping on the cyberbullying bandwagon as if we can control every jerk who is obnoxious. It’s another gimmick to eliminate the First Amendment. There is always a good excuse.
They want to refine the First Amendment, great, huh?
“Proponents of a more refined First Amendment argue that this freedom should be treated not as a right but as a privilege — a special entitlement granted by the state on a conditional basis that can be revoked if it is ever abused or maltreated.”
Here are some of there absurd ideas – their whole dang report is in caps by the way:
“LEAVING IMPROPER MESSAGES ON ONLINE MESSAGE BOARDS OR SENDING HURTFUL AND DAMAGING MESSAGES TO OTHERS; (editor-who is going to define that?)
FLAMING” (HURTFUL, CRUEL, AND OFTENTIMES INTIMIDATING MESSAGES INTENDED TO INFLAME, INSIGHT, OR ENRAGE);
“HAPPY SLAPPING” (RECORDING PHYSICAL ASSAULTS ON MOBILE PHONES OR DIGITAL CAMERAS, THEN DISTRIBUTING THEM TO OTHERS);
TROLLING” (DELIBERATELY AND DECEITFULLY POSTING INFORMATION TO ENTICE GENUINELY HELPFUL PEOPLE TO RESPOND (OFTEN EMOTIONALLY), OFTEN DONE TO PROVOKE OTHERS); (editor – what can I say?)
(editor-and this is my favorite) EXCLUSION (INTENTIONALLY AND CRUELLY EXCLUDING SOMEONE FROM AN ONLINE GROUP).”
Oh, and RUMORS aren’t allowed either.
