Nation of Islam Hate Handout Given to 8-Year Old Student In Tennessee

Update: 10/20/14: A second parent has now come forward acknowledging their child received a Nation of Islam “handout” in a third grade class at Harold McCormick Elementary School in Elizabethton, Tennessee – contradicting claims by the school district that the document was not distributed in the classroom according to Fox News.

If true, what kind of teacher lies and claims a child stole it off her desk?

Original Story: A Nation of Islam handout spewing hate against the presidents on Mt. Rushmore was given to an 8-year old student or taken off a teacher’s desk. Either way, why was it on her desk?

Sommer Bauer, a parent of an eight-year old boy at Harold McCormick Elementary School in Elizabethton, Tennessee was shocked to find her son’s handout which was written by the Nation of Islam (led by Rev. Farrakhan). It characterized the presidents on Mt. Rushmore as racists.

The title of the handout is “What does it take to be on Mount Rushmore?”

The answers:

  • George Washington’s home state of Virginia was the prime breeder of Black people for the domestic slave trade.
  • Thomas Jefferson enslaved 200 Africans.
  • Theodore Roosevelt thought Blacks were ape-like.
  • Abraham Lincoln thought he had no right to interfere in states where slavery was legal.

Mrs. Bauer said that the teacher told her it was printed by mistake and it was not supposed to be taken home. It was supposed to stay in the classroom.

It should concern any mother to know that teachers could be teaching information that can’t be sent home.

The Principal never got back to Mrs. Bauer.

The Superintendent E.C. Alexander told Todd Starnes of Fox Radio that they would never promote racist views.

He also said it was not meant for public distribution and that the child took it from the teacher’s work station without permission. The teacher, allegedly, had discounted it.

It might have been a mistake but why is a handout like that in a classroom and why is there anything taught that can’t be shared with a parent?

The Nation of Islam teaches hate for whites, gays, police and Jews. They believe the only true God is Allah and aren’t shy about pushing it off on people.

Farrakhan likes to use terms like “white devils” and Jewish “bloodsuckers”. He calls Judaism a “gutter religion,” and Adolf Hitler “a great man” — he later claimed that he only meant that Hitler was “wickedly great.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which usually likes far-left organizations, said this about the Nation of Islam:

Since its founding in 1930, the Nation of Islam (NOI) has grown into one of the wealthiest and best-known organizations in black America, offering numerous programs and events designed to uplift African Americans. Nonetheless, its bizarre theology of innate black superiority over whites — a belief system vehemently and consistently rejected by mainstream Muslims — and the deeply racist, anti-Semitic and anti-gay rhetoric of its leaders, including top minister Louis Farrakhan, have earned the NOI a prominent position in the ranks of organized hate.

“[T]he Jews don’t like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that’s a good name. Hitler was a very great man. He wasn’t a great man for me as a black person, but he was a great German. Now, I’m not proud of Hitler’s evils against Jewish people, but that’s a matter of record. He raised Germany up from nothing. Well, in a sense you could say there’s a similarity in that we are raising our people up from nothing.”
— Louis Farrakhan, radio interview, March 11, 1984

So, this is my question. Why was that handout even on the teacher’s desk or in her work station?
