Democrat state senator in Arizona, Carlyle Begay, switched from the Democrat Party to the Republican Party and he had a message for Americans that he put into a video and uploaded to youtube.
The message: “I clearly see the Republican Party is a party of progress, a party of hope, a party of opportunity and moving forward — my party.”
“With an open mind and heart, I clearly see the Republican Party is a party of progress, a party of hope, a party of opportunity and moving forward — my party,” Begay said.
Begay was elected in 2013 as a Democrat to represent Arizona’s 7th district which covers much of NE Arizona and the Hopi and Navajo reservations.
In the video, he says:
Today, the Republican Party is finding solutions to build a positive future for the people I represent. In the past two years, it has been the Republican Party that has worked side-by-side with me to improve education, jobs, and infrastructure. It is my commitment, and always should be, to serve the people I represent first. This includes when decisions must be made that are not popular. And this decision will not be for some.
Unemployment in Native-American rural communities is running as high as 80%, Begay said, many don’t even have electricity and running water. They have the lowest graduation rate and the highest graduation rate.
Democrats said they’re looking forward to replacing him in 2016.
He seems like a sincere person who simply wants to help others, hopefully he’ll continue serving as a Republican senator.
