The Father’s Day interview of Alex Jones by Megyn Kelly could be a colossal embarrassment for NBC and the host
At least that’s what a newly-released of audio of a phone conversation with Megyn Kelly and Alex Jones suggests. Jones is said to be a fringe conspiracy theorist, but the tapes suggest Kelly was less than honest with Jones.
Jones says he covertly taped the entire interview and comments she made behind the scenes. He released one of his phone conversations with her and she does sound “fake” as he put it.
The controversial interview has riled many from the left to sponsors to Sandy Hook victims. Jones has been highly critical as well. He says he kept telling her he believes Sandy Hook is real but she wouldn’t put that into the final cut. Kelly promised him a fair interview but ended by setting him up, according to him.
Jones threatened to put out all the tapes shortly.
In the phone call, Kelly does seem to woo him
“You know you just became very fascinating to me. I just always thought you were this maybe, one-dimensional guy, like this is your thing…”
“My goal is for your listeners and the left – you know, who will be watching some on NBC – to say, “Wow, that was really interesting.”‘
“And then the next time I wanna get somebody, they’re gonna say, “Look what you did to Alex Jones!” It’s not going to be some gotcha hit piece, I promise you that.”
He claimed she promised a softball profile. She said she wanted to do “in-depth, interesting profiles” of people during her Sunday magazine show.
During his custody trial, Kelly told Jones she thought he had a point and she saw a different side of him. People need to see that side, she says on tape.
Many say Jones is a conspiracy nut job, but he says he plays devil’s advocate or talks tongue-in-cheek or considers all sides. A lot of what he says is satire, he admitted.
But, despite how people feel about Jones, it also sounds like a potential nightmare for NBC and a problem for Kelly’s reputation.
In the tape, Kelly says she wants people to see he’s a real person. At one point he asked when it would be aired and she said probably July. She said nothing about Father’s Day. He thinks she did the interview because he’s opposed to corporate media.
Kelly says she won’t selectively edit. Jones says she selectively edited.
Jones will post after the interview after the show Sunday to show how the “power structure manipulated” it. He called her a “beautiful puppet” and said it shows her “arrogance” to think they wouldn’t tape her, he said.
This reminds us of the Katie Couric interview with a gun group that Couric edited to make them look like they had no answers to her questions. That doesn’t make Jones okay. That’s for others to decide. We don’t watch Jones.
While she did want to put down Jones, her goal appears to primarily be to humiliate the President
