There is a new book destined for some classrooms that parents and educators need to be aware of.
A new Common Core aligned text for grades 6-12 teaches the Black Lives Matter movement from the leftists’ perspective. It introduces children to ‘anti-blackness theory’ and the so-called systemic hatred of blacks in the United States.
It appears to be a rewrite of history as we saw with the Occupy Wall Street movement where the “protesters” were glorified. Professors taught classes at universities in New York City lauding the Occupy movement and gave students time off for joining the agitators.
“Black Lives Matter (Special Reports)” details “the shootings that touched off passionate protests, the work of activists to bring about a more just legal system, and the tensions in U.S. society that these events have brought to light,” according to publisher ABDO, Fox News Insider reports.
It is written by a black feminist professor and a blogger. It has been endorsed by leftist congressman Keith Ellison.
The book apparently teaches students that our systems are inherently racist. The following description comes from the leftist book review, Portside.
Sue Bradford Edwards, local Missouri journalist, and Dr. Duchess Harris, Professor of American Studies at Macalester College, new book, Black Lives Matter, is a comprehensive guidebook introducing without emotionally overwhelming 6-12th graders who are learning about the movement, and its inheritance, for the first time to antiblackness violence in U.S. law and society. Surprisingly, the text also resonates with lower-division university students.
Radio host Larry Elder told Fox & Friends it’s indoctrination and he is shocked by “mass lack of critical thinking.” He reminds the audience that Black Lives Matter is based on a lie and police are becoming passive with crime raging out of control in many cities.
There should be more concern about black on black crime, he believes.
“The whole thing is absurd,” Elder said.
It’s teaching young kids to be victims and whites to feel real guilty.
“It’s indoctrinating young kids, teaching them that black people are victims and, by the way, you, as white people, ought to feel really, really guilty about it,” Elder said.
He added, “The implosion of the black family are left-wing policies that have encouraged women to marry the government and then to abandon their financial and moral responsibility.
“Why don’t they come down to Compton or South Central (Los Angeles), where I grew up, and confront the Bloods and the Crips and MS-13?” Elder questioned. “Get in their faces and chant ‘black lives matter.’ Maybe that will have some sort of effect,” Elder said.
Think Progress, a Soros leftist online rag, denigrated Larry Elder and Daily Caller for complaining.
One of the authors of the new text, Duchess Harris who co-authored it with Sue Bradford Edwards, said she wasn’t worried, those people criticizing the book haven’t read it.
That’s true so I went to a site of leftists who have read it since it’s not out yet and I can’t read it. The feminist wire did a rave review.
It is a “primer”, and “authoritative text designed to teach nonblack children about historical-structural inequalities productive of antiblack violence in U.S. law and society,” thefeministwire advises. Topics cover “cybersecurity to the Ebola outbreak, to ISIS, to transgender rights.”
Keith Ellison during a staged arrest.
Ellison notes in the book’s introduction that it “speaks to something beyond criminal justice reform,” in fact addressing, borrowing from Alicia Garza, the movement’s co-founder, “the ways in which Black people are deprived of basic human rights and dignity.”
Black Lives Matter was built on a lie but the authors decry the violence against blacks committed with “impunity” using Brown as an example.
The review claims “This text has made it possible for students illiterate in antiblack violence to begin to extrapolate black experiences of historical-structural inequality—overdetermined by the experience of being made fungible—from non-black experiences of ethnic difference without being overwhelmed with academic jargon.
Chapter Four glosses the war on drugs and the prison-industrial complex, including the cradle-to-prison pipeline, while Chapters Five and Seven call attention to parasitic social and cultural scripts that embolden even (or especially) civilians to act with the authority and impunity of state troops, for example, in “neighborhood watch” organizations, detailing Trayvon Martin’s murder and Renisha McBride’s execution, specifically.”
The anti-blackness theory has been tied to the Palestinian solidarity movement which could be why Keith Ellison likes it so much. Many claim it’s the same for blacks as it is for Palestinians.
Duchess Harris teaches at the upscale Macalester College, a private liberal arts college in a wealthy, tranquil section of St. Paul, Minn., with a student population that is 86% white. Sue Bradford Edwards calls herself a Florissant (section of Ferguson) blogger, a historian, and Explorer Extraordinaire on her website.
“Anti-blackness” is a theory similar to “white privilege” and the inappropriately generalized use of the term “white supremacy”. It claims that this systemic hatred by whites is the cause of black poverty, crime and imprisonment.
The radical leftists like Cornel West and Tavis Smiley believe Reagan Democrats, who they think are the cause of their problems, are just ignorant in what Marx would call “false consciousness”, they see their duty as informing ignorant whites on why they should vote left.
They believe that Reagan Democrats were excited by Reagan’s alleged anti-black rhetoric of law and order, a rhetoric that was in response against the activities of the Black Liberation Army, Weather Underground, Black Panthers, and Black Guerilla Family. [Horrible, horrible groups[
Marxists think a person is in a state of false consciousness if his/her political or social interests go another way than his/her material or financial interests. For those who adopt this view, the Reagan Democrats just need to be educated correctly about what they have in common with the black poor and working class. Their alleged hatred of black people is somehow “false” because it runs counter to their financial interests.
Other black thinkers say that Marxists ignore the “fact” that whites want to maintain their supremacy and anti-black racism.
