New Schumer Anti-Gun Bill Requires Massive Database of Targeted People

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has proposed a new bill which he announced today, while standing alongside his cousin actress-comedien Amy Schumer. The bill will nationalize some requirements for gun control reporting, taking them out of the state’s hands but leaving them with the responsibility and costs.

He made some other questionable suggestions that he shared over CBSN Monday. He wants the Federal government to decide the best practices for involuntary commitment people to a mental institution.

Why don’t we pour more effort into strengthening existing laws instead of coming up with new ones we don’t follow and won’t enforce? Last year, about 17,000 felons illegally applied for guns and they were reported to the FBI. The FBI only prosecuted 49 of these cases.

Schumer wants to nationalize some gun reporting requirements that could be the basis for confiscating guns. As he said, he “mustn’t give up”. These gun grabbers are relentless.

The impetus for this bill is the most recent theater shooting in which his cousin Amy Schumer starred which explains why she also gave an impassioned speech today.

Schumer is going to hold back funds from states that don’t do what his bill mandates.

Schumer is blaming the states, claiming that because they don’t send information to the Federal government, there are mass shootings.

He has a three prong plan.

The first requirement is the bill that will force states to send all information they have on felons, spousal abusers, and those adjudicated mentally ill and if they face a penalty for doing it, they will be compensated by the federal taxpayer. This is very concerning. How many spouses make up lies about being abused out of anger, hate, greed? The answer is many!

He is calling for the Department of Justice “to find the best standards and put out the best practices for involuntary commitment.” This one is fairly frightening. It’s nationalizing forced commitment of the mentally ill. Given the government’s penchant for the broad brush approach, people will be categorized, catalogued according to the Federal government guidelines.

Third he is calling for Congress to fund the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, which is another welfare agency with lots of problems.

This is going to be expensive for the states and the federal taxpayers and it’s going to involve a whole host of new regulations and accompanying paper work. More concerning is it’s the camel’s nose under the tent when it comes to nationalizing gun laws.

The irony of all this is they’re lying. The mass killers got their guns because the Federal government fell down on the job.

Breitbart pointed out that the latest killer, John Russell Houser, joins Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez (Chattanooga), Dylann Roof (Charleston), Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi (Garland), Jared and Amanda Miller (Las Vegas), Elliot Rodger (Santa Barabara), Ivan Lopez (Fort Hood 2014), Darion Marcus Aguilar (Maryland mall), Karl Halverson Pierson (Arapahoe High School), Paul Ciancia (LAX), Andrew John Engeldinger (Minneapolis), Aaron Alexis (DC Navy Yard), Tennis Melvin Maynard (West Virginia), Wade Michael Page (Sikh Temple), James Holmes (Aurora theater), Jared Loughner (Tucson), Nidal Hasan (Fort Hood 2009), Jiverly Wong (Binghamton), Seung-Hui Cho (Virginia Tech), Naveed Haq (Seattle), and Mark Barton (Atlanta) on the list of attackers and alleged attackers who acquired their guns via government background checks.

It’s not the law, it’s the government.

Edited after publication: We incorrectly listed Ms. Schumer as Chuck Schumer’s niece but she is his cousin.

  1. But he’s likely going to be just fine and dandy with caving to whatever limits Iran wants on the development its nuclear weapons program. Comb through Americans’ info, but let the Mullahs basically have 24 days to hide any damning evidence while they chant “Death to America” & “Death to Israel”.
If Schumer really wants to “to find the best standards and put out the best practices for involuntary commitment” he should be judged by his vote on the Iranian Nuclear “deal”. He along with any of his colleagues should be “committed” if they vote “Yea”.

  2. This article is a joke. It annoys me to no end when sites like yours portray themselves as ‘news’ organizations but cannot be bothered to fact check an article before posting.

Amy Schumer is Senator Schumer’s 2nd cousin. Not his niece.

If I took the time to check the details of other ‘facts’ used I have no doubt there would be many more errors.

    • I see where it states twice in the story that the Schumer’s are cousins. I don’t see the word niece once.

      • Hi Duane,

She was right. I corrected it and forgot to add that it was edited. It’s noted now. Sometimes we make technical errors but we correct them. Stacy ignored the point of the post which was supported with an audio and people can make their own judgments.

  3. I don’t really care what they do anymore. This lawless regime has lost all legitimacy anyway, everything they pump out is no longer relevant. Just ignore them, they’re nothing now.

  4. This regime wants our weapons at all costs! They don’t want us to be able to defend ourselves or our freedoms! The people are going to have to stand up to the federal government as one voice and one action, one mind! Why do you think that Obama and his team have been creating division among the people? He wants to prevent a unified response! We as a people no longer have a government for the people!
