Communist Mayor Bill de Blasio will honor a terrorist during this year’s Puerto Rican Day parade.
Outraged Hispanic police groups are boycotting the Puerto Rican Day Parade next month on June 11th because it will celebrate a pardoned terrorist linked to one of the deadliest groups ever to target New York.
“We support the NYPD members who were seriously injured and the families of the innocent people who lost their lives during these attacks throughout the United States and in our city,” the NYPD Hispanic Society said in a statement. “We took an oath to protect and serve the people. Unfortunately, this year’s views and values of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade committee do not conform with the society’s mission of promoting peace and unity.”
The Sergeant’s Benevolent Association will join them in calling for a boycott.
“The FALN was one of the most dangerous terrorist organizations in American history,” SBA president Ed Mullins wrote in a letter to sponsors. “There is no justification in lauding or celebrating its murderous leader.”
NY Governor Cuomo might actually go to the parade. He’s pretending he doesn’t have the details.
As Kyle Smith wrote for National Review, the left is “willing to shrug off terrorism provided it has sufficient left-wing bona fides.”
We all see that with the Antifa and other violent domestic terrorists running amok in the U.S. The left won’t say a word.
These violent leftists move the leftist ball forward of course.
Before leaving office, Barack Obama commuted the sentence of this terrorist Oscar López-Rivera, who fought for Puerto Rican independence under communist leadership with the terrorist group, FALN, and tried to overthrow the US government.
In federal prison since 1981, López-Rivera was convicted of seditious conspiracy to overthrow the government of the United States and arms trafficking in connection with his leadership of the FALN. FALN is the notorious left-wing terrorist group that perpetrated more than 130 attacks on U.S. soil from the mid 1970s through the mid 1980s, killing six and wounding many more.
After his conviction, Lopez addressed Judge McMillen prior to his sentencing. “I am an enemy of the United States government.” Lopez also added, “I show respect for human beings but I don’t think it is reciprocated.” Judge McMillen called Lopez “an incorrigible law violator,” and then sentenced him to 55 years in prison. That later became 70 when he tried to escape.
He has shown no remorse.
No model prisoner, the terrorist tried to escape prison twice and attempted to secure weapons to kill his way out. The DoJ confirmed his leadership role and his boasting about it in the attempt to break out of Leavenworth prison.
Throughout his imprisonment, he maintained his deep ties to Cuba.
The government offered to free him but he would have had to swear off terrorism. He declined the deal.
By 2010, he began to petition for parole but, again, he only said he was sorry for his group’s actions, not for anything he did. He was to be released in 2023 though he had a 70 year sentence – 55 years for his crimes and 15 for his prison escape attempts.
Barack Obama decided to free him. Lopez is perfect! He’s a poster child for who you would want to have released!
