An NYU librarian needs some serious sensitivity training to overcome the “race fatigue” she suffers after being around those oppressive white librarians. That’s right! Librarians!

April Hatchcock
April Hatchcock, an NYU librarian says she suffered from “racial fatigue” after attending the annual American Library Association [ALA] conference in Chicago, during which she was “in the presence of white people”.
She thinks “race fatigue” is a real illness caused by whites but, in fact, she’s a racist.
April Hathcock said that she “hit her limit” after spending five days “being tone-policed and condescended to and ‘splained to” by “white men librarians” and “nice white ladies.”

She was so upset by having to be around white people that she hit her blog, Post-ALA Race Fatigue, that five days of whites gave her “race fatigue”. Poor dear, she must be so perfect herself of course. She quoted her beliefs from a piece in Think Progress:

Race fatigue is a real physical, mental, and emotional condition that people of color experience after spending a considerable amount of time dealing with the micro- and macro-aggressions that inevitably occur when in the presence of white people. The more white people, the longer the time period, the more intense the race fatigue.

She explains how horrible whites are:
Its been 5 straight days of being tone-policed and condescended to and ‘splained to. Five days of listening to white men librarians complain about being a “minority” in this 88% white profession–where they consistently hold higher positions with higher pay–because they don’t understand the basics of systemic oppression. (They’re librarians. You’d think they’d know how to find and read a sociology reference, but whatever.) Five days of having “nice white ladies” tell you to be “civil” and “professional” when you talk about the importance of acknowledging oppression and our profession’s role in it.
Even the “nice” whites make her ill. They feel “superior”, “want to hear horror stories” of micro-aggression suffered by blacks and it made her “tired”. She was looking forward to hanging with her black relatives and friends and, she claims some white allies. One can only imagine what they are like.

The Soros-funded extremists at Think Progress wrote an article, Black people aren’t making things up: The science behind “racial battle fatigue,” in which they explained that the term was  coined by University of Utah researcher William A. Smith in the early 2000s. He was studying a favorite of the far-left – micro-aggressions – and how they inconspicuously but potently degrade marginalized people.

Smith postulated that “race fatigue” transcends generations and is caused by the dismissal of “black outrage with indictments of laziness and criminality against disaffected black people”.

In truth, the term “race fatigue” is similar to “white supremacy” and “white privilege”. It is more of the same and feeds into the victimization mantra of the hard-left that is used to play identity politics.

I prefer to listen to the very sane Derryck Green at Project 21. In an article he wrote after the George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin lie was spread around by a sympathetic left-wing media, he wrote, “Help me, I’m suffering from acute race fatigue!”

After gavel-to-gavel coverage of the George Zimmerman trial, I need a break. After all the post-verdict anger, lamentations and inane discussions about what it is to be a black man in America, I’m exhausted.

After watching President Obama liken himself to Trayvon Martin, I’ve had enough.

All this talk about race seems intentionally shortsighted and disingenuous. It simply implicates whites and infantilizes the black man. And those needing to hear straight talk the most are shortchanged by the soulless profiteers of the racial grievance industry.

We will jump right to his well-written conclusion because I can’t say it as well as he does:

The embarrassing demonstrations increased racial fatigue because those engaging in them did so at the expense of their dignity and credibility. These people — willfully or through neglect — ignored the facts and evidence of the case in a grandstanding attempt to make whites feel responsible and guilty for perpetuating racial discrimination. At the same time, whites feel obligated to perform penance of indeterminate length — defined by the racial grievance industry — without assurance of absolution.

Meanwhile, black-on-black crime is much more destructive and prevalent than a “white Hispanic” killing a black male.

The charade is disgusting, and I’m tired of it.

Me too! How about you? I also wonder what her library looks like.
