Mr. Obama’s politicization of the CDC is complete.
He has appointed Ron Klain, a lawyer and political operative, to act as Ebola czar in lieu of the many medical professionals he could have chosen (and after he let Dr. Frieden fall on his sword).
Ronald A. “Ron” Klain is best known for serving as Chief of Staff to two Vice Presidents – Al Gore (1995–1999) and Joseph Biden (2009–2011). He is an influential Democratic Party insider. He’s also a debate strategist for the left.
He’s a political being through-and-through.
Klain turned down Rham Emanuel’s job for Chief of Staff to Obama.
They even made an HBO movie about him titled, Recount. His part was played by a good friend of the late Hugo Chavez, Kevin Spacey.
Klain signed off on the disastrous Solyndra debacle.Despite concerns about whether the company was viable, Klain approved an Obama visit, stating, “The reality is that if POTUS visited 10 such places over the next 10 months, probably a few will be belly-up by election day 2012.”
His judgment about Mr. Obama upon his inauguration was this:
“Just eight years ago, in a nadir for our system, we saw a President put in office by a highly dubious Supreme Court decision, reversing a popular vote for his opponent. And now? After a record number of people engaged in record levels of political activism to generate a record number of votes for Barack Obama, today we have record crowds in Washington to bear witness to a historic renewal of our democracy. It is a great, great day.”
His wife is an environmental activist and special assistant to the Secretary of Defense. Her position in the defense department is a nice tie-in to sending our military to Ebola-afflicted countries.
Mr. Klain will be charged with coordinating the administration’s response to the disease, including its efforts to detect, isolate and treat Ebola patients in the U.S. The administration also is taking steps, including a military deployment, to stop Ebola at its source in West Africa.
This is ironic in that he completely rejected President Bush’s belief that we can stop terrorism here if we fight it over there.
Mr. Obama has set up a nice defense for himself over his refusal to limit travel from West Africa by saying none of his advisers have recommended it. If Mr. Obama does limit travel, it will be right before the election on the advice of his new czar so it doesn’t look as political as it will be. Klain is a political operative and the Ebola crisis is a political operation for Mr. Obama and the democrats.
Klain will report to White House homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco and National Security Advisor Susan Rice. Now, there’s a pair you can’t trust, beginning with their handling of Benghazi.
This is just another big government addition. When big government goes awry, the democrats add more big government.
