Our land grabbing president is out to get even more land under Federal control and out of private hands and/or private use. He wants the defunded Land & Water Conservation Fund refunded under the guise of climate change and doing what is right for the environment.
This is how the Land & Water Conservation Fund describe themselves: It was a simple idea: use revenues from the depletion of one natural resource – offshore oil and gas – to support the conservation of another precious resource – our land and water. Every year, $900 million in royalties paid by energy companies drilling for oil and gas on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) are put into this fund.
What they actually do is buy up land for the Feds. They boast that they have conserved more than seven million acres so far. When they decide they want the land, the owners are forced to sell.
In June, Congress stopped putting money into the archaic 50-year old fund that has more than outlived its original purpose.
The left in Congress think the Republicans, like Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, who led the twilighting of this program are extremists though the truth is the opposite. The Feds own much of the West.
Half of the West belongs to the federal government, including 48% of California, 69.1% of Alaska, 53.1% of Oregon, 48.1% of Arizona, 42.3% of Wyoming, 41.8% New Mexico, 36.6% of Colorado, 62% of Idaho, 66.5% of Utah and 81% of Nevada.
It’s never enough.
The left-wing congressmen plan to tack a bill reauthorizing it to another must-pass bill like the omnibus spending bill or highway and transportation bill.
Republicans want at least 60 percent of LWCF dollars to go to states. They argue that the money should go not to acquiring new land but to the upkeep of roads and facilities on existing federal lands, which they say are poorly maintained.
“Who is best able to target these funds and recognize what is precious in each state in terms of preserving our history, our natural resources, our ability to recreate, our ability to provide opportunity to the people who live there and who visit there?” Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) said, adding, “I just truly trust states.”
“IF LWCF is used to acquire more land, it’s obvious that’s going to hurt people, especially kids in schools,” Bishop said.
It takes the land off the tax rolls.
The leftists are pulling out all the stops to get this $900 million annual fund restored so they can buy up more ranches and farms for a government that wants the good land to be owned by the government, not ranchers or farmers.
Obama boasts in the video below of having preserved more than 260 million acres of land and kept it off the tax rolls, kept it from being utilized and lived on.
At one point in this weekly address, he says that farmers, ranchers, businesses have come together but what he doesn’t say is they’ve come together to try to save their land from the government. He mentions everyone coming together to save the worthless grouse which is just another ruse to steal land. Read about the sage grouse on this link.
Obama is stealing land, our vote, our culture, our identity, and our freedoms. Preserving lands is a facade.
