President Barack Obama and French President Francois Hollande met in Washington on Thursday to discuss ways for the two countries to work together to defeat terrorism. He will not, however, under any circumstances even acknowledge that Islamic terrorism is the problem, so much so that he censored President Hollande’s use of the term “Islamist terrorism.”
The White House censored the phrase from the official White House video of the meeting posted on the White House website.
Media Research Center, a non-profit media watchdog, was the first to report the White House censorship.
The official transcript quotes Hollande using the phrase “Islamist terrorism” but the video of the remarks are muted on the audio when Holland makes his remarks. The French-to-English version stops before Hollande characterizes the root of the problem as “Islamist terrorism”.
