Obama Threatens Sanctions Against Israel Over Apartment Buildings

Haaretz reported that the Obama administration is considering sanctions against Israel over settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem. “Settlements” are simply apartment buildings on Israel’s land. Obama will do anything to get that empty peace agreement he wants for his legacy.

Haaretz wrote that “‘the White House has been discussing taking ‘active measures’ to discourage Israeli construction, instead of just issuing condemnations, as it has done until now.'” It could be scare tactics.

Sanctions, the report said, could include “abstaining in votes condemning Israel at the UN Security Council, instead of vetoing them, or banning funding of projects in Judea and Samaria.”

One has to wonder if Obama will limit funding for weapons. He has done that before. He tried to cut the funding for Israel’s Iron Dome at least two years in a row.

Can you imagine what will happen if Hamas takes over the West Bank and east Jerusalem? Forget the Holy Lands. In fact, it will be the end of Israel.

While ISIS, Boko Haram, al-Shabob, al-Qaida, Iran and other terrorists mutilate, torture, and kill, Obama worries about apartments and homes on Israeli land.

During a press conference Friday, Fox News reporter Ed Henry asked Josh Earnest if the reports that the U.S. would place sanctions on Israel were true.

Earnest disingenuously said, “I’ve been informed of some of these reports. What I can tell you is that I’m not going to talk about any internal deliberations inside the administration and certainly not inside the White House,” Earnest said. “But I will say something I have said many times before, which is that Israel is a close and strategic partner of the United States of America. I don’t need to remind you of the strong and unshakable bonds that exist between the United States and Israel, and the United States exceedingly strong commitment to the security of the nation of Israel.”

“We’ve … been crystal-clear about our view of settlement activity,” Earnest added. “That view has not changed. We believe that the settlements are illegitimate and we have deep concerns about highly contentious planning and construction activity that the Israeli government is pursuing in east Jerusalem and the West Bank. We believe those kind of activities are counterproductive. We made those views clear public. We made those views clear in private.”

Henry then said, “So clearly, you are not denying that sanctions are on the table against even an ally.”

Earnest said quite definitively, “I’m very clearly not denying that we have strong concerns about some of the activity that is underway in Israel. It has not and will not affect the United States’ strong commitment to the national security of the nation of Israel.”

Earnest then refused to talk further. Marie Harf wouldn’t say anything about it either according to The Hill.

If Obama does this, Congress has to do something. We can’t let this insanity continue. Any agreement with Iran will allow them to keep their nuclear program. On that issue, Iran has been clear. Beating down Israel won’t help.
