Congress is continuing to push a law to protect U.S. citizens that Barack Obama has promised to veto while criminals are pouring onto our streets.
As the U.S. Senate considers a bill to slash funding for local governments that protect violent illegal immigrants, a new study reveals that hundreds of sanctuary cities nationwide released thousands of criminal aliens from jail rather than turn them over to federal authorities for deportation, Judicial Watch reported.
We have an ever-growing number of 340 sanctuary cities which have become a haven for criminal illegal aliens. It would seem like common sense to put a stop to the practice, especially since it’s a violation of Federal law. Bill O’Reilly has been trying to get Kate’s Law passed. The law requires a mandatory five-year sentence for criminal aliens who have repeatedly returned after being deported.
Kate’s Law is named after the innocent Kate Steinle who was murdered by the unrepentant drug dealer who came back to the United States after multiple deportations and settled in San Francisco, the most liberal of sanctuary cities.
Republicans are supporting a Senate bill that was also spurred by the murder of Kate Steinle and it is designed to strip so-called “sanctuary cities” of federal funding, penalizing communities that do not prosecute undocumented immigrants.
“Under this commonsense legislation, sanctuary cities would lose federal funds if they maintain these dangerous policies,” Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pennsylvania, said Saturday. “We have to take this step in order to get these cities to do the right thing and stop undermining our immigration laws.”
He said the Stop Sanctuary Policies Act would “help make our communities safer” and prevent cities like San Francisco from making “a mockery of even modest attempts” at immigration enforcement.
“When illegal immigrants do commit violent crimes in our country, they must be arrested and deported,” Toomey said. “That’s the law.”
The Obama administration, however, released a statement declaring that it “strongly opposes” the bill, and that President Obama’s advisers would recommend a veto should the bill reach the president’s desk.
The president has threatened in the past to veto any legislation that would crack down on sanctuary cities, saying it “threatens the civil rights of all Americans.” He is essentially insisting on Federal Law being violated and Americans being put in danger.
Apparently some citizens don’t have civil rights. Kate Steinle didn’t have civil rights. These victims don’t have civil rights either.
Obama and his minions like Nancy Pelosi still insist no immigration laws can be enforced until the Congress agrees to his idea of immigration reform.
The Senate is scheduled to vote on Toomey’s bill, co-sponsored by Sen. David Vitter, R-Louisiana, on Tuesday CBS News reported.
In 2011, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a study on approximately 250,000 illegal aliens locked up in our federal, state, and local prisons. They represent more than a quarter of all of the prisoners in the federal prison system alone. The GAO’s “study population” had been arrested nearly 1.7 million times and committed three million offenses, averaging about seven arrests and 12 offenses per criminal alien. The incarcerated aliens had been arrested for a vast array of crimes, according to a report by The Daily Signal.
The video is dramatic testimony given in July by one victim’s mother. Warning, it’s very graphic.
