Congress will not pass cap & trade (carbon tax). The majority of the American people do not want cap & trade. That is of no consequence to President Obama and his far-left base. President Obama will ignore Congress and force through climate change mandates via executive orders and agency (EPA and Energy department) mandates beginning on Tuesday.
President Obama has repeatedly ignored Congress and has assumed powers that belong to the legislative branch. This will be one more assault on our Constitution among many assaults but no one is pushing back except for people in the tea party.
The separation of powers and our system of checks and balances mean nothing to Barack Obama.
Obama made this latest announcement on a web video posted online Saturday.
Never one let a good crisis go to waste, Obama claimed that because Congress has failed to act by passing a burdensome carbon tax in a poor economy, he – the imperial president – will now circumvent Congress in direct violation of the Constitution.
He said he will lay out his vision “for where I believe we need to go – a national plan to reduce carbon pollution, prepare our country for the impacts of climate change, and lead global efforts to fight it.” This plan will undoubtedly model the UN’s plan.
As Obama has often said, he wants climate change legislation as part of his legacy. It’s not about us, it’s about him. He will assume the legislative power of Congress to make it happen.
This will likely mean the imposition of a tax on energy, causing our prices to rise. It will also serve to distract the public from his failures and scandals. It’s a win-win for Obama.
Cap & Trade is a very corrupt system which imposes taxes on energy usage. The rich can still afford to waste energy and the only ones hurt are the poor and the middle class. The poor usually get some subsidies but the middle class gets nothing. The very rich make a lot of money off cap & trade.
India and China, the biggest polluters, are doing nothing which leaves us looking like fools and soon we will be very poor fools.
