Obama’s Going to Streamline the Government & I’m Going to Win the Lottery

“In these challenging times, when we are facing both rising deficits and a sinking economy, budget reform is not an option. It is an imperative,” Obama said. “We cannot sustain a system that bleeds billions of taxpayer dollars on programs that have outlived their usefulness, or exist solely because of the power of a politicians, lobbyists, or interest groups. We simply cannot afford it. This isn’t about big government or small government. It’s about building a smarter government that focuses on what works. That is why I will ask my new team to think anew and act anew to meet our new challenges…. We will go through our federal budget – page by page, line by line – eliminating those programs we don’t need, and insisting that those we do operate in a sensible cost-effective way.” ~ Barack Obama, November 25, 2008

When Obama ran for office, he promised “smart government” and he promised cuts to wasteful government programs. He said he would go line by line through the budget. He was going to add jobs. To date, there is no net increase in jobs. He said he’d eliminate lobbyists but he ended up hiring them. The healthcare plan he said would cut the deficit has grown by 9% in one year. This video is from November 25, 2008.

CNBC Busting Obama on his feigned tax cuts in October, 2008

Within his first 100 days, Obama cut a paltry $17 billion, which encompassed 100 programs. He then proceeded to add over $4 trillion in deficit alone and added 140,000 government workers, workers who get salaries/benefits thirty to fifty percent more than private sector workers. This video is from May 2009.

Twelve months ago, he said the same thing. He was going to use a scalpel. Sounds like the needle stuck on his recording. This video is from January 2011.

Here he is last June talking about mini-cuts & they are mini –

Here is what he did in November, 2011 –

“With the stroke of his pen, President Barack Obama has sacked souvenirs federal agencies buy with taxpayer money to promote their work.

The ban he signed Wednesday is part of a broader executive order to cut some $4 billion of dollars in waste and make government more efficient. Some office equipment will simply be scarcer, and fewer cell phones and laptops will be issued.

Obama has been using his executive powers on modest proposals – Wednesday’s order targets trinkets like coffee cups, T-shirts and pens – to promote job creation, help homeowners or, in this case, redirect spending…” HuffPo

January, 2012 –

Now it’s January 2012 and Obama is saying exactly what he said in 2008 and onward (see quote at beginning).”The government we have is not the government we need,” Obama told business owners he’d gathered at the White House

…Attacking senseless duplication across the executive branch he runs, Obama said: “Why is it OK for our government? It’s not. It has to change.”

…Obama said it was time for an “effective, lean government.”

…”So much of the argument out there all the time is up at 40,000 feet, these abstract arguments about who’s conservative or who’s liberal,” Obama said. “Most Americans — and certainly most small business owners — you guys are just trying to figure out how do we make things work, how do we apply common sense. And that’s what this is about.”

Obama wants “smart” government and plans to push the Republicans to give him the power to combine the trade and commerce departments. He would hardly need to push Republicans to cut government. Why doesn’t he cut the EPA, NEA, USDA and EEOC or work on saving social security and Medicare for starters, now there’s a lot of waste and fraud.

I don’t know about you but I want someone to save me from this Groundhog Day leadership style. All I hear is blah, blah, blah, blah…
