We have already heard that men are paid better than women in the White House. The Free Beacon reported that female employees in the Obama White House make considerably less than their male colleagues according to WH records.
According to the 2011 annual report on White House staff, female employees earned a median annual salary of $60,000, which was about 18 percent less than the median salary for male employees ($71,000).
In general, Business Week shows that Obama’s record on equal pay for women is so-so and, to me, that’s more important than free condoms since they can be gotten for free anyway down at Planned Parenthood.
Obama makes a big deal about the Lily Ledbetter law and that has brought more lawsuits, some have benefitted men. The lawyers are having a field day with something else they can sue over.
That law, outside of helping lawyers, was more hoopla than substance. The EEOC from 2006-2008 brought 18 cases against employers for alleged sex-based wage discrimination but the Obama administration has brought only six cases from 2009-2011.
Obama didn’t really need another law – there are enough laws covering wage discrimination as it is.
Obama is doing better with federal contractors and supposedly settled 50 race and gender discrimination cases, not specifying how many were race discrimination. The government provided no evidence to Business Week however.
