Oprah Winfrey pulled the race card in a recent interview in the UK. She said criticisms of Barack Obama are largely due to racism. The only reason she is saying this, and the reason most others are pulling the race card, is because they want to shut down free speech and all criticism of Barack Obama.
She went to a foreign country and accused the United States of being a racist nation despite all the evidence to the contrary. It’s shocking and disappointing.
This is the comment that stirred the controversy:
“There is a level of disrespect for the office that occurs,” Winfrey said Friday in an interview with the BBC. “And that occurs in some cases and maybe even in many cases because he’s African American. There’s no question about that, and it’s the kind of thing that nobody ever says but everybody is thinking it.”
Winfrey pointed to Republican Congressman Joe Wilson yelling “You lie!” during a 2009 speech Obama was giving to Congress. Joe Wilson calling Mr. Obama out for lying has turned out to be accurate.
What about Mr. Obama’s disrespect for the Supreme Court in the House chamber in 2010 when they didn’t rule the way he wanted them to rule in the Citizens’ United case?
“Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our elections. Well I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities. They should be decided by the American people, and that’s why I’m urging Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps to right this wrong.”
Liberals were thrilled to see the justices sitting stone-faced and displeased. Sen. Schumer stood up behind the justices and clapped like a mad clown while Samuel Alito shook his head and mouthed the words, ‘not true.’
No one was concerned about the disrespect of Supreme Court justices, but they were concerned about Justice Alito’s mouthing of words in response to what amounted to a public flogging.
Another case in point. Oprah recently played a butler’s wife in the White House in The Butler, a movie which portrayed Ronald Reagan as subtly bigoted, which was completely untrue. That wasn’t disrespectful? That is okay?
The disrespect towards Mr. Obama is the result of his redistributing the wealth, damaging the middle class, doing nothing about the job situation, centralizing power in the Executive Branch, ignoring the Separation of Powers, and dividing us based on race, religion, and income levels. It has absolutely nothing to do with the color of his skin. In fact, the color of his skin added to his charm and helped him win the presidency.
