Has anyone ever been named “Humanitarian Hypocrite of the Year”? If not, let Nancy Pelosi be the first. Comments made during her trip to the porous southern border this weekend effectively eliminated all other competition.
After flying down toTexas, she had lots to say about the illegal immigrant children overwhelming what now appears to be just another Obama imaginary “red line” in the sand. Doing her best, albeit syntax challenged impression of Mother Teresa, Ms. Pelosi piously claimed, “This crisis that some call a crisis, we have to view as an opportunity,” Pelosi said, “If you believe as we do that every child, every person has a spark of divinity in them, and is therefore worthy of respect–what we saw in those rooms was (a) dazzling, sparkling, array of God’s children worthy of respect.” She continued by urging the public to, “….show who we are as Americans, that we do respect people for their dignity and worth.”
Leaving aside her sudden spiritual channeling, and the fact she and her liberal entourage left their phony photo op in the Lone Star State without a single one of those poor kids by their sides; just try comparing Nancy’s newly born-again, righteous revelations on kids, to some of the deadly policies she applies to unborn children.
In Pelosi’s mind there is no limit to when a woman can abort a baby. That would explain why, unlike her trip to Texas, she didn’t fly to the infant killing fields of Kermit Gosnell’s Philadelphia’s “office” and decry the butchery of that convicted murderer. She must have found those murdered immediately after their birth to be completely lacking that special “spark of divinity”. There’s no record of her even showing up at the mass killer’s lengthy trial. The proceedings were so disturbing, it was weeks before intrepid, liberal columnist Kirsten Powers’ chilling 4/11/13 USA Today column brought the grotesque horrors to the nation’s attention.
About a month after Powers’ article, and some 7 weeks after the trial began, Ms. Pelosi was asked about the story. “I think that whatever went on there- I only know what you all report on it– is really disgusting.” Asked if a congressional hearing was necessary she refused to answer. Thirty plus days later when asked what is the moral difference between what Gosnell did to babies born alive and aborting those same infants moments before birth, Pelosi would not explain. Funny that with the Philadelphia butchery she only knew “what you all report” but with the flood of illegal youngsters across the border, she determined to plane down there, get photographed, and take a peek.
And of course make the laughably sanctimonious, self-righteous comments cited above. Pelosi would have us believe that if kids can make it out of their mother’s womb in Central America, and cross into our country illegally they become “a dazzling, sparkling, array of God’s children worthy of respect.” Children lost to late term abortions or even infanticide clearly don’t qualify on any of those counts. What Nancy “saw in those rooms” down south was a blatant play for votes, while what she refused to see “in those rooms in Philly” was a wanton, sick, destruction of innocent life, that would have proven to be both politically inconvenient and morally indefensible.
Nancy Pelosi has easily earned the dishonor of being chosen “Humanitarian Hypocrite of the Year”. Given her history we can safely assume this will be the first of many.
