Pitiful: US Army Is Worried About Too Many White Officers

The army elite are very worried about the numbers of white officers according to a new report. There are wars and the threat of war throughout the world while we disarm our military, but the army is worried because only 10% of army officers are black.

That’s not as bad as it sounds. Black are only 13% of the population.

I’m personally worried that we don’t have enough whites in the NFL and the NBA!

“It certainly is a problem for several reasons,” Col. Irving Smith, director of sociology at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, told USA Today. “First we are a public institution. And as a public institution we certainly have more of a responsibility to our nation than a private company to reflect it. In order to maintain their trust and confidence, the people of America need to know that the Army is not only effective but representative of them.”

How does he know that? Can we see the stats? Or is this another guess based on feelings? Sociologists have to do a lot of that because sociology is not a science in the true meaning of the word.

Capt. Grancis Santana, 33, spoke to the paper and asserted that it wasn’t discrimination that was causing a lack of minority officers in key posts — the supply of desired soldiers in his military occupational specialty simply wasn’t there. “It’s not a good feeling when you’re one of the few,” Capt. Santana told USA Today. “There was no discrimination; there are just not a lot of people like you.

The idea that the most willing and the best qualified get the jobs and the promotions might be going by the wayside.

USA Today also noted that of the 238 West Point graduates commissioned to be infantry officers in 2012, only seven were black. One of the Army’s plans for addressing the issue will be to put more emphasis on recruiting and mentoring minority officers.

Uh OH, this is West Point we are talking about.

What does putting “more emphasis on recruiting and mentoring minority officers” mean exactly? If it means they will do a better job advertising in black neighborhoods for instance, that’s great. I’m all for it. If it means they will recruit out of reform school or beg the uninterested to take the jobs, fugetaboutit as they say in Brooklyn.

We are at war with ISIS even though we don’t always admit it. Wouldn’t it be better to have the best qualified do the jobs or are we so bigoted against whites that we can’t let them outnumber any group? Will the army even be satisfied with 13% or do they want an equal number to servicemen. If a regiment has mostly blacks in it, does that mean they MUST have a black officer?

This is social engineering, not fairness.

My father was a sergeant in WWII – in charge of a regiment. He was the only non-Native-American aka Indians. They followed him enthusiastically. It was the good ole days before PC and white privilege nonsense took some of our freedoms away and made race more important than a person’s individual worth.

It’s one thing if qualified minorities are not being promoted because they are minorities, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. They don’t seem to want the jobs.

We shouldn’t be cutting our military, we should recruit the best qualified and most committed officers, and race should be irrelevant. Will we do that or do I sense some Affirmative Action on the horizon? Is more PC coming our way?

I have an idea – let’s thank those white officers for being willing to make the sacrifices they make for their country!

Perhaps the army sociologists are unnecessary? Do we really need them? Really? We could replace them with some good minority fighting men and women and the army would be so much better off for the difference.
