Fox News is reporting that Attorney General Loretta Lynch and FBI Director Jim Comey are meeting regularly to set up the schedule of interviews of Hillary Clinton and her aides. Hillary Clinton is accused of failing to protect state secrets as secretary of state.
Jim Comey himself will interview Hillary.
“In a case like this, you get one shot at the queen,” a source who is not allowed to officially comment on the matter told Fox News. “The pressures are enormous on the agents, as the case has to be airtight and perfect.
Ron Hosko, former assistant director of the FBI’s criminal investigative division, said “This in an incredibly high stakes, high-wire act. Timing is of the essence, but being right is absolutely critical. Comey must be the one to make the case that the law has been broken and a prosecution is recommended.”
Judge Napolitano said this is the dangerous and critical phase.
Federal law enforcement sources have notified the public that their examination of raw data is complete and they are now on the next phase.
Hillary’s former computer tech, Bryan Pagliano, who testified under immunity, has told investigators how and why he migrated an open State Department email stream and a secret State Department email stream from government computers to Clinton’s secret server in her home in Chappaqua, New York. He has told them that Clinton paid him $5,000 to commit what is probably a criminal activity.
He has also told some of the 147 FBI agents assigned to this case that Clinton herself was repeatedly told by her own State Department information technology experts and their colleagues at the National Security Agency that her persistent use of her off-the-shelf BlackBerry was neither an effective nor an acceptable means of receiving, transmitting or safeguarding state secrets.
This stage becomes dangerous for a number of reasons.
The aides and their lawyers will not have knowledge about the case or the evidence. They go into the interviews blind and face the ‘perjury trap.’
Federal agents don’t like to be lied to. That’s what sent Martha Stewart to prison – it was one lie to one agent.
The final phase will be the Clinton interview if she submits to one. The prosecutors at this point would tell her lawyers they have evidence of criminal behavior and they would offer Clinton a blind interview prior to presenting it to a grand jury.
Either way, she’s damned.
If she lies, she’s in trouble and she already has lied. The FBI knows she had four mobile devices and she’s claimed publicly and under oath that she neither sent nor received anything “marked classified.” The FBI knows that nothing is marked classified, and its agents also know that her unprotected secret server transmitted some of the nation’s gravest secrets.
Her lying in public can’t be going over well with the agents.
If she doesn’t submit to an interview, it won’t look good politically. People will begin to understand how serious this actually is.
It’s hard to believe that she would be indicted. They will probably come up with some mealy-mouthed excuse such as, while she didn’t abide by the letter of the law, her intent was such-and-such… Int the meantime, she has to do whatever Obama says.
