President Trump has issued the following statement in response to the news that former FBI Director Robert Mueller has been appointed as Special Counsel in the Russia investigation.

“As I have stated many times, a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know – there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity.  I look forward to this matter concluding quickly.  In the meantime, I will never stop fighting for the people and the issue that matter most to the future of our country.”

The Department of Justice has confirmed that the White House was only informed of Acting Attorney General Rosenstein’s decision to appoint a Special Counsel in the Russia probe after the order was already signed and an hour before it was announced publicly.

Why didn’t Republicans demand a special prosecutor on the Hillary Clinton case?

President Trump is now being accused of attempting to interfere in the Russia election probe, but it was Obama who actually did interfere.

As Andrew McCarthy wrote on National Review Online, former FBI Director Comey’s decision to exonerate Hillary Clinton because she was “extremely careless” and did not have intent on July 5, 2016, mirrored the words of Barack Obama on April 16, 2016.

President Obama said on April 16 during a “60 Minutes” interview that Mrs. Clinton’s use of the personal email server did not pose a national security problem. She was careless but didn’t intend to endanger national security.

“Here’s what I know — Hillary Clinton was an outstanding secretary of state. She would never intentionally put America in any kind of jeopardy,” Obama said.

Trump hasn’t tried to shut down the Russia investigation but Obama did shut down the Clinton investigation.
