Racial quotas and disparate impact, while wrong, are now being used to favor minorities in the most absurd ways. New York showcases the most visible examples because the mayor of the city is a communist.
Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio has ordered staff surveys of all museums and cultural organizations and if they don’t do it they will losing funding.
What the targeted organizations should do is band together and as a group refuse to do the surveys.
This bigotry is even affecting what paintings are being hung on the walls. It would be insensitive to hang a white person’s painting if there wasn’t a minority’s also, they now say.
This is happening in all levels of the government nationally. Segregation is wrong, everyone knows it’s wrong, but even so, they are segregating whites. Future decisions won’t be made on the quality of work but on the race of the creator or employee.
De Blasio told nearly 1,000 organizations to fill out a survey this summer detailing the race, gender and disability status of their employees and board members.
“As long as you complete the survey, you will be eligible to apply for funding from [the city] in fiscal year 2017,” institutions were told in a July 20 letter from Tom Finkelpearl, commissioner of the Department of Cultural Affairs.
Groups that don’t keep such data were told to hand out voluntary surveys to employees, with the caveat in the instructions that “you cannot require a staff member or board member to self-report any element of their identity,” the NY Post reported.
In addition to providing the workforce information, the cultural groups had to answer a questionnaire with up to 48 questions — including “How does your organization engage with issues of diversity on a daily basis?” and “What forms of diversity do you think are important for strengthening the quality of work of your organization?”
Groups are also queried on whether there were barriers to increasing diversity among staff and board members, according to a copy of the survey obtained by The Post.
The city hired a “diversity consultant” to review the results and a spokesman for the Department of Cultural Affairs said that they insist on having a “workforce, leadership and audience that reflect our city’s increasingly diverse population.”
The city warned it was coming in March. They are constantly fretting over the lack of diversity in the culture, but the fact is they are destroying the culture and making it a non-culture of diverse elements.
It’s happening all over the country.
In May, an alliance of Asian American groups filed a federal complaint against Harvard University, saying it and other Ivy League institutions are using racial quotas to admit students other than high-scoring Asians.
The university’s response from their general counsel, Robert Iuliano, was “We will vigorously defend the right of Harvard, and other universities, to continue to seek the educational benefits that come from a class that is diverse on multiple dimensions.”
Most people aren’t looking at race when they look for a doctor or an economist or an accountant or a teacher, they’re looking for quality. They want the best, not the best Eritrean or the best from Detroit.
We now make educational, housing, and other legal decisions based on “disparate impact” and call it fair. Disparate impact states that a policy is considered discriminatory if it has a disproportionate “adverse impact” against any group based on race, national origin, color, religion, sex, familial status, or disability when there is no legitimate, non-discriminatory reason.
So, if the end result is not in favor of a protected class, even if there is no evidence of discrimination, it’s discrimination. Whites are not a protected class but everyone else is.
In 2009, the White House established another monstrous big government agency, the Office of Urban Affairs, to do exactly this sort of thing.
