Rand Paul Is Fighting Obamacare Jr Which Gives Free Health Care to All Illegal Aliens

Rand Paul brings a copy of The Art of the Deal to a Freedom Caucus meeting.

Rand Paul staged a rally against Obamacare Jr. with FreedomWorks and he’s been pressuring the Freedom Caucus to not support Ryancare because he says it’s Obamacare lite. One of the problems people have with the bill is that it allows illegal aliens to collect free health care at the expense of U.S. taxpayers and we are $20 trillion in debt.

Obamacare Jr. continues the free health care to illegal aliens but in the end it might not matter.

Obamacare Sr. contains an explicit prohibition against providing federally-subsidized coverage to immigrants who cannot prove they are here legally. However, Obamacare subsidies permit states and localities to spend up to $6.5 billion more on health care for illegal immigrants. Nothing changes in Ryancare, in fact, it’s worse.

A draft of Obamacare Jr. appears to strip out even Obamacare’s weak protections preventing illegal aliens from signing up for health care meant for citizens.

The draft, released by the House Committee on Ways and Means, does not seem to include bare-bones provisions requiring officials to check an enrollee’s immigration status, the Conservative Review’s Daniel Horowitz warns, calling it a “gift to illegal aliens.”

Conservative author and pundit Michelle Malkin said three years ago that Obamacare prepared Americans to pay for illegal alien health care.

“President Obama had already paved the path for illegal alien Obamacare when he signed the massive expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP) in 2009. As I’ve reported previously, the law loosened eligibility requirements for legal immigrants and their children by watering down document and evidentiary standards—making it easy for individuals to use fake Social Security cards to apply for benefits with little to no chance of getting caught. In addition, Obama’s S-CHIP expansion revoked Medicaid application time limits that were part of the 1996 welfare reform law.”

Unfortunately, illegal aliens have been getting free health care since EMTALA was passed during the Reagan administration. It prevents hospitals from refusing treatment for unidentified people not covered by insurance.

There might not be a way out of that because of what Democrats would say and do if Republicans repeal that bill. Precluding them from Obamacare, means illegals will just continue to go to ERs.

Rand Paul’s solution might not be feasible and very dangerous for Republicans. Sometimes compromise is necessary but making it easier for illegals to collect is not a solution.

One thing is certain, something needs to be done and, in eight years, Republicans seemingly have not come up with a plan they can sell though that is not yet decided.

In any case, is there a completely free market solution for a system that some people say is either ruled by a health insurance racket or a government racket? Government healthcare is inevitably a Ponzi scheme requiring healthy young people to pay inordinate premiums.

Pundit and author Charles Krauthammer said this week that the solution might be to load the bill up with everything Republicans want and let it get voted down. Obamacare will collapse. Then it’s on Democrats. It’s their bad bill.

Senator Lindsey Graham seems to agree.

If Republicans can’t agree on legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act/Obamacare, President Donald Trump should allow the system to collapse, Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wednesday.

“Here’s what I would tell the president: If you can’t get a better deal and if you can’t protect that 62-year-old worker in Greenville from having dramatic premium increases because Democrats won’t work with you and you can’t get the Republican Party on board, stop, take a time-out, let it collapse,” Graham told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”.

“Then, turn to the Democrats and say this was the system you created,” said Graham. “It has collapsed, now help me replace it. That’s what I would do.”

The problem in the end is Democrats will only agree to government healthcare.

Democrats will agree to nothing less, can we count on Republicans to demand a more free market solution?
