Red State Dems Ready to Ignore “Settled Law” & Then, “Pay Ransom”

It looks like those Tea Party people and right wing extremists, led by Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, were correct all along.  How do we know?  Because Democrats are, in one form or another,  agreeing that (right now) more ObamaCare is just too much choke sandwich to be rammed down the gullet of an American public….already gagging on just its first couple bites.

Members of the president’s party, who’ve spent the last month marching in lockstep with their leader by refusing to negotiate even the most common sense reforms to the Affordable Care Act, are suddenly breaking ranks.  They see this law’s rollout as the disaster conservatives have been predicting for years. So now, these same pols who spent months demonizing Republicans’ efforts to slow the “train wreck” down, want to insulate themselves from unhappy hometown voters by masquerading as Tea Party-lite, Mini-Me’s.

In an effort to make their move very public, a bunch of Senate Dems from Red States have been scampering to the D.C. microphones.  West Virginia’s Joe Manchin is calling for a one year delay. Vulnerable Democrats like Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., Mary Landrieu, D-La., and Kay Hagan, D-N.C., are asking for a slowdown. Sen Jeanne Shaheen has also called for delay. She even wrote Obama that, “Allowing extra time for consumers is critically important so they have the opportunity to become familiar with the website, survey their options and enroll.”  Gee Jeanne, did you just awaken from Heartless Harry Reid’s magical spell?  In your letter to the president, you essentially plagiarized the Grand Old Party’s arguments

What happened to all the Democrat talking points focused on the Affordable Care Act being “settled law”, and their high minded refusal to “pay ransom”?  The answer can be found in their desire for political survival. Virtually the entire sorry lot of them are up for re-election next year, and the voters know this law sucks.

So forget all that “spin” about Congress passing it, the Supreme Court finding it constitutional, and Barack Obama being re-elected.  Most Dems running in states won by Mitt Romney know the ObamaCare they voted for, and stubbornly refused to amend, will be used against them in 2014.  They could lose.

Given that possibility, never mind about settled law.  Suddenly, it’s perfectly fine to pay ransom; even if the hostages being freed from self imposed ObamaCare captivity have been pointing guns at their own heads.  It’s perfectly fine, so long as the “captives” happen to include this gaggle of unprincipled pols looking to continue suckling at the breast of big government.
