The Director of Homeland Security John F. Kelly will replace Reince Priebus as Chief of Staff as of Friday.

“I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F Kelly as White House Chief of Staff. He is a Great American….” Trump tweeted.

Over the last two days, Anthony Scaramucci aka Mooch has insisted that he had the goods on Priebus. He said he was one of the leakers.

Mooch gave a profanity-laced interview with NY Mag’s Ryan Lizza that was published Thursday. During the interview he suggested Priebus was leaking to the media.

The new comms director said he had the goods on the leakers and was planning to present it to President Trump today.

Priebus and Mooch are enemies. Once Mooch was hired, the writing was on the wall.

John Kelly

The New York Times reported late Thursday that Trump has openly told people he’s lost faith in Priebus.

Trump told people he wanted to replace Priebus with “a general” and had his eye on John Kelly, the retired four-star Marine who is the secretary of homeland security. The Times reported that many of Trump’s advisers think that’s a bad idea.

Kelly has no experience in this arena.

Kelly, who retired from the Marine Corps in 2016 after a 45-year career and with the distinction of being the military’s longest-serving general, was heralded when Trump picked him as Homeland Security chief earlier this year.

He “speaks truth to power,” as Kelly has said  about himself. Whether that is good or bad for Trump is to be determined.
