House Majority Whip Steve Scalise is still in critical condition Wednesday night, and will require more operations, according to MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

“Congressman Steve Scalise sustained a single rifle shot to the left hip. The bullet traveled across his pelvis, fracturing bones, injuring internal organs, and causing severe bleeding,” the statement reads. “He underwent immediate surgery, and an additional procedure to stop bleeding. He has received multiple units of blood transfusion. His condition is critical and he will require additional operations. We will provide periodic updates,” the hospital statement said.

Scalise was shot in the hip Wednesday by a crazed gunman targeting Republicans. Rep. Scalise was on the field bleeding for about ten minutes according to some congressmen. They couldn’t get to him as the gunman fired.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump traveled to the hospital Wednesday evening, visiting for over a half hour. The Trumps were spotted carrying flowers.

Trump tweeted, “Just left hospital. Rep. Steve Scalise, one of the truly great people, is in very tough shape – but he is a real fighter. Pray for Steve!”

Matt Mika, the lobbyist who was critically injured with multiple gunshots, two to the chest, also remains in critical condition.

Republican congressmen have gotten calls today from people who are glad he was shot. For those heartless Democrats, watch this video and listen to these gunshots and put yourself in the victims’ place. It’s awful.
