The Commerce-Justice-Science appropriations bill passed the House 242-183. It contains several provisions aimed at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) questionable rule-making authority. The bill will hold back funding to the DOJ if they attempt to pass restrictive gun control “rules.”
The bill prohibits them from banning certain forms of armor-piercing ammo or blocking importation of military-style shotguns. They won’t be able to create a gun registry for rifles.
The ammo for the AR-15 was on the block and the ATF pulled back on a ban last year.
“These concealed weapons serve only one purpose: To kill human beings wearing body armor,” said Rep. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.).
“We have a responsibility to protect our police and our communities from these unreasonably dangerous weapons,” he added.
This is from a Democrat – the party that has put police in danger and completely demoralized thousands of police departments throughout the country.
The bill was authored by Reps. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.). Hudson warned the ATF to keep its “hands off our guns.”
Republicans are outraged by the ATF requirement that gun owners disclose their race and ethnicity when purchasing a gun. Why would that be necessary and what does race and ethnicity have to do with buying a gun? The Democrats are always demanding an end to all profiling and here they are profiling.
This bill would prevent them from requiring racial disclosures.
The ATF should be “colorblind” when it comes to guns, Rep. Diane Black of Tennessee said. She authored the provision.
“We all want to see weapons kept out of the hands of criminals, but an individual’s race and ethnicity has nothing to do with their ability to safely own and operate a firearm,” Black said.
They’ve included a Fast and Furious” provision that would block federal agents from giving guns to drug cartels as part of sting operations.
