Riots Are Part of the American Experience for Today’s Liberal

Time Magazine published an article by freelance writer Darlena Cunha. It provides a good trip through the liberal thought apparatus. It’s a frightening trip.

Cunha wrote an article about the Ferguson riots titled “Ferguson: In Defense of Rioting”. The violent protests that destroyed 25 businesses and put many in danger are, according to her, “part of the American experience.” Only the “mainstream” can enjoy the “luxury” of “peaceful protesting,” she says.

It’s a perfect example of how these new liberals think. They’re not your grandfather’s liberal.

shops before and after
The before and after photo pictured above is just “part of the American Experience”

Without considering the facts or the evidence, she said the “anger” in Ferguson was “inevitable” because a “police officer” shot “a young, unarmed black man in the streets.” She wrote “inevitable” as if the rioting is to be expected and she wrote “in the streets” as if Michael Brown was dragged into a gutter.

“Riots”, she states, “are a necessary part of the evolution of society.” People aren’t living in a “universal utopia” and they don’t have “basic human rights”.

It’s hard to know what she’s talking about.

She appears to be saying that Michael Brown and people in Ferguson who riot don’t have human rights.

Beauty shop burned
The before and after the riot of a beauty shop is evolutionary to some liberals.

An anti-Capitalist, she subscribes to the “you didn’t build that” theory and says the following about “privileged Americans”:

“Because when you have succeeded, it ceases to be a possibility, in our capitalist society, that anyone else helped you. And if no one helped you succeed, then no one is holding anyone else back from succeeding. Except they did help you, and they are holding people back. So that blaming someone else for your failures in the United States may very well be an astute observation of reality, particularly as it comes to white privilege versus black privilege. And, yes, they are different, and they are tied to race, and that doesn’t make me a racist, it makes me a realist. If anything, I am racist because I am white. Until I have had to walk in a person of color’s skin, I will never understand, I will always take things for granted, and I will be inherently privileged. But by ignoring the very real issues this country still faces in terms of race to promote an as-of-yet imaginary colorblind society, we contribute to the problem at hand, which is centuries of abuses lobbied against other humans on no basis but that of their skin color.”

It’s so irrational that it makes my head spin.

She goes on with her Zinn-history version of our origins and claims the Boston Tea Party was a riot not unlike Ferguson.

The people rioting in Ferguson are gang members, stupid kids, and outsiders – groups that include anarchists, communists, radical black groups. There are relatively small, but very destructive, bands of criminals roving the streets. They do not represent the majority of people in Ferguson.

Cunha thinks that these criminals are rioting because they are blacks who “are one of the populations here who still need to. In the case of the 1992 riots, 30 years of black people trying to talk about their struggles of racial profiling and muted, but still vastly unfair, treatment, came to a boil. Sometimes, enough is simply too much. And after that catalyst event, the landscape of southern California changed, and nationally, police forces took note.”

She sees gangs destroying peoples’ livelihoods as inevitable and very understandable.

She also seems to think that their crimes are just simply the result of “pent-up anger” at a “system decidedly against them, a system that has told them they are less than human for years, we ought to be reaching out to help them regain the humanity they lost, not when a few set fire to the buildings in Ferguson, but when they were born the wrong color in the post-racial America.”

Natalie DuBose
Natalie DuBose after her bake shop was burned down by criminals, not racists.

She’s a disgrace and she’s fairly typical of the far left people we are allowing to rule us and change the way we think. She’s not really a liberal, she’s an anarchist.

This is how the leftists perpetuate the insanity we see in Ferguson. Instead of lifting up blacks, the leftists are telling them they are doing nothing wrong, they’re just angry because of years of abuse under an unjust system.

I’d like to see her evidence but she’s more into fiction.

She thinks all Americans are racist and riots are solely the result of racism.

That’s a sneak peak into the mind of a modern leftist and we have a bunch of them running our government. God help us all.
