Memorial Day display destroyed by leftists at Occidental college in 2016

Hard-left Salon is going after all of our patriotic symbols and the assault won’t stop until they are all gone. An op-ed in Salon claims that Memorial Day and our National Anthem have their roots in the Confederacy, which is obviously aimed at removing them, though they deny that.

The article was first published in hard-left Alternet with the title, It Is Time to Examine the Words and the Origins of Our National Anthem, Another Neo-Confederate Symbol. The purpose is to have the reader believe it developed from a Confederate culture which is our culture now.

“Long before Colin Kaepernick had the best-selling jersey in the National Football League, “The Star-Spangled Banner” was the cause of an American culture war,” the author writes.

There was indeed a culture war as he writes, but it was not Confederate against American. It was Progressives [hard-left] against patriotic Americans, just as it is today.

The author Jefferson Morley [who should change his first name immediately since it reminds me of slavery] writes: Key’s “Star-Spangled Banner,” with its lyrics deriding black people who took up arms to gain their freedom in the War of 1812, became a point of pride for Southerners.

He’s talking about the third stanza few know exists. This is what it says:

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country, should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Yeah, right, Jefferson.

Francis Scott Key was berating British soldiers who hired their soldiers, thus, they were known as ‘hirelings’ . The wasn’t glorifying slavery.

Here is something else from the article that puts Memorial Day in the crosshairs:

In the decades following the Civil War, the defeated South strove to establish rituals such as Memorial Day, which honored the veterans of northern and southern armies equally, implying equality of respect for their causes.

The first large-scale semi-national celebration took place in Virginia but was organized by Union Veterans. Most of the graves are in the south, including Union graves.

The article concludes: In short, neo-Confederates elevated “The Star-Spangled Banner” from patriotic tune to national anthem as a way of honoring southern slaveowners’ rebellion.

That’s absolutely insane though he does a grand job of twisting reality to back it up.

The purpose of the article is to destroy patriotism, end our heritage, and divide our country further. The media is playing no small part.

The assault is coming from all sides. Take the incident with the ACLU this past week.

After the ACLU posted the tweet and the comment above, they admitted it was white supremacy and apologized because of negative feedback from bigots. It’s actually racism against whites on the part of the left.

These people want you to constantly feel guilty about being American as they exploit the concept of racism to do it. The left was responsible for slavery, Jim Crow laws, segregation but they are re-writing history.

This latest re-write requires Americans lose their patriotic zeal.

They want to destroy the United States.
