San Fran Supervisor Blames Guns for Kate Steinle Murder

San Francisco Supervisor David Campos made the death of Kate Steinle about guns, not immigration. It’s a diversionary tactic that plays well in the world of the far-left.

The MSNBC interviewer asked Campos how communities get rid of people like Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez who killed Kate Steinle. Campos minimized the shooting by saying it was a bullet that ricocheted and then went into an irrational argument about illegal immigrants being a safer class of people.

His final insult was to blame guns.

“Well, first of all, on this case, let’s be very clear, we are still not sure exactly of all the things that happened. You know, in this case, it appears that the shot ricocheted off the ground.

“But let me say this, the challenge that I have with the way that people are talking about this is that they look at an incident like this and they assume that that is representative of an entire community. Newsweek had a very interesting piece that basically showed that if you look at facts, not rhetoric, not political points, but if you look at facts, undocumented people are less likely to commit violent crime than the rest of the population.

“So, why is it that when something like this happens — and by the way, the problem here is not just that this individual, you know, what San Francisco, even though San Francisco has become a political pinata. Where is the outrage in the failure of the federal government to actually do comprehensive immigration reform? Where is the outrage at the fact that you had a gun that was actually stolen from a federal law enforcement agent? We in San Francisco are actually doing something to prevent this, like I said.

You know, we have a law that is trying to purge old warrants so we don’t transfer the wrong person. We’re requiring that law enforcement actually do something with their guns. You know, this has become an immigration issue, and yet, no one is talking about gun control.

The FBI reports that there were 67,642 murders in the U.S. from 2005 through 2008, and 115,717 from 2003 through 2009. The GAO reports that criminal aliens committed 25,064 of them. That means they committed 22% to 37% of all murders in the U.S., while being only 3.52% to 8.25% of the population.

There is also the obvious fact that if illegal immigrants weren’t allowed into the country, that would be 25,064 murders of citizens that would have never happened.

People like David Campos want to make us unsafe by giving sanctuary to criminal illegal immigrants and they want to take our guns away so we can’t protect ourselves.

  1. And just yesterday a woman, driving a car, crashed or lost control and killed four people. The car obviously left the roadway, ergo, careened or ricocheted into a group of people. By his liberal logic, shouldn’t the car be held responsible?
