Sen. Graham Insists He Will Cut U.N. Funding If They Drop Sanctions Before Congress Sees the Deal

Lindsey on Greta's show

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham told Greta Van Susteren Friday that he will move to cut funding to the U.N. if Barack Obama bypasses Congress and goes directly to the U.N. Security Council without Congress ever having seen the nuclear deal.

Graham is chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs and in that role he can block $654 in appropriations due to go out to the U.N. this year.

“Twenty-two percent of the funding for the United Nations comes from the American taxpayers, and I’m in charge of that account,” Graham stated emphatically.

Graham is most concerned about the sanctions being lifted without any review of the nuclear deal.

“I’m not going to allow the United Nations to be used as a way to get around the United States Congress for a deal that affects the very existence of Israel and our own national security,” Graham said.

After Greta pressed the issue, he said, “If they go to the U.N. Security Council, and the U.N. Security Council lifts all sanctions before we ever get a chance to look at this deal, absolutely I would suspend funding the United Nations, because I don’t think your money should go to an organization that irresponsible.”

That statement leaves a lot of wiggle room. He has to get his colleagues to get along – a monumental task. The Senate seems content to give away their power on every issue.

Congress has been surrendering power to the executive branch and its agencies for decades but they have no right to do it. Our Republic is built around three branches of government that share power co-equally and Congress has an obligation to preserve our government on our behalf.

President Obama is planning to keep the details of the nuclear deal secret, even from Congress, our representatives in government. This is what they do in tinpot dictatorships.

If Barack Obama circumvents Congress and gets the crackpots in the U.N. to approve it in their stead, Congress will suffer a complete and utter defeat.

In all likelihood, the deal will put both Israel and the United States in danger.

Iran is steaming through the Middle East taking control of the governments and their oil. They will have control of the Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon, and they are threatening Jordan and Egypt. They are building intercontinental missiles that are meant for the United States but the deal won’t include missiles. The Iranians will be allowed to have 6,000 centrifuges. The only reason to have centrifuges is to enrich Uranium.

On March 12th, the Supreme leader of Iran spoke to his Assembly of Experts to reaffirm their commitment to global jihad and to also announce the enticement of U.S. and European youth to Islamic jihad using Islamophobia. These are the people we are negotiating with?

To date, Congress has been disappointing. They do not stand up for the Constitution or the majority of people they represent. It’s a government that has moved too far to the left. They aren’t talking about saving the Republic or the Constitution because that would be too radical for them.
