After MH 17 was shot down over Doneskt yesterday, a Facebook post went out from the brutal, likely Russian-trained leader of the Separatists, Igor Sietkov, in which he appeared to take credit for the terrorist attack, though he seemed to think it was a Ukrainian plane.

Separatists under the Doneskt leader, Igor (Seitkov) Girkin, bragged on Russian Facebook after the plane disappeared, that an Anatov 26 had been shot down. The quote was later deleted.

He wrote, ”The plane has just been taken down somewhere around Torez (Donetsk Oblast). It lays there behind the Progress mine. We did warn you – do not fly in ‘our sky,’” he said.

“And here is the video proving another ‘bird’ falling down,” he continued. “The bird went down behind the slagheap, not in the residential district. So no peaceful people injured. There is also information about another plane shot.”

Girkin, a native Muscovite who goes by the nom de guerre Igor Strelkov, is known for his brutality. As reported in Mashable, he led an illegal military tribunal and sentenced at least three Ukrainian citizens to death by firing squad under a 1941 Stalin-era law.

In the following audio, released by Ukrainian secret service, it appears that Separatists shot the plane down from 35,000 feet. Also interesting is that they are discussing it with Russian officers.

No less interesting is the fact that Putin was on the phone with Obama at the time the plane was shot down. Putin and Obama briefly discussed it and Putin got to hear Obama’s detached response first hand.

The Obama-Putin phone call was made at the request of Moscow a day after the United States and European countries imposed new sanctions on Russia over its aggression against Ukraine.

The Russian Separatists are “scary guys” as the reporter who embedded with them claims. They appear to be much more than locals.
