President Obama, who is all-heart when it comes to gang members coming here illegally and is even more generous with deserters who are traded for Taliban terrorists, this warm-hearted, generous president can’t even take the time to say one word in defense of a Marine rotting in a Mexican jail.
Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi made a wrong turn with legally registered guns in his car and wound up in Mexico. He was sent off to jail for having guns in Mexico. He was tortured and was in fear for his life the first month he was in prison.
Sgt. Tahmooressi, who is also a pilot, served his country honorably through two tours of duty in Afghanistan and his reward is to be ignored.
All it would take is one phone call to Obama’s friend President Enrique Peña Nieto. ONE CALL!
One congressman fighting for the Sergeant said that unless Barack Obama makes that call, Sgt. Tahmooressi will never get out of that jail.
Donald Trump has a theory. He told Greta Van Susteren on July 9th, “I think it’s just gross incompetence. If you want to know the truth…Well, he fought so hard for this deserter in the other case and yet he doesn’t fight for somebody that was not a deserter…I think he [Obama] is overwhelmed. I think it’s too much for him. He doesn’t have it. I think he is overwhelmed.”
Trump is probably wrong. Obama knows exactly what he is doing in the case of Sgt. Tahmooressi. He likes to vote “present” so as not to offend our enemies or opponents.
A White House petition, which you can still sign when you click the link, had the requisite number of signatures in time to receive a response from Barack Obama. He refused to respond as of July 17th. You can call the White House and ask the president to call at 202-456-1414, (202) 224-3121 or (202)456-1111.
Sgt. Tahmooressi had a savings of $65,000 which he hoped to use to rebuild his life but it’s gone. The last Marine to rot in a Mexican jail, Jon Hammer, had bills in excess of $90,000.
By way of contrast, Sgt. Bergdahl, the glorified deserter, has a nest egg from Uncle Sam in excess of $300,000.
Sgt. Tahmooressi’s mother said that if Andrew – who is facing a 21-year sentence – ever gets out of that hellhole he is in, he will be deeply in debt. He already suffers from PTSD.
Sgt. Tahmooressi’s Family Facebook Page does make mention of a fund – the Andrew Freedom Fund – to help defray his expenses.
You can find the family’s official page ON THIS LINK.
You can also write to the Sgt. and send him words of encouragement. The family welcomes prayers too.
His friend spoke on his behalf the end of May:
