Stimulus money to make a two lane road into a two lane road.

Who Wouldn't Want To Pay For This?

My original comment was that our Stimulus money went to make improvements to a two lane road to make it into a two lane road. It would be funny if it wasn’t so not funny.

Update: They’ve turned some of the two lane road into a one lane road. Desiree Moore, a neighbor, added a comment, which I believe deserves to be in the text.  From Desiree: Two lane road? There are parts of that road close to Nesconset Highway that used to be two lanes, now it is only one lane. Was driving on that road the other day. There were approx. 40 workers standing around watching 2 guys shoveling. On my return trip about an hour and a half later, they were still doing the same. I wanted to get out of my car and scream! The only shovels ready are the ones at the hands of these elected officials burying the taxpayers in debt!

Original Story: We have a very congested area near my house and it has needed widening for years. I didn’t want the Stimulus money, but here was a project that needed to be done. I thought the government elite were going to widen the road and we’d see less congestion. Alas, that was not to be the case.

However, there is a left turn lane now that goes into the Carvel, a Doggy Doo place and an abandoned dairy drive-in. Believe me when I say there aren’t throngs of people turning into these two stores. There should be no surprise when I say the congestion is as bad as ever.

Our share of the stimulus money was so shovel ready that it took a year-and-a-half to begin the project, which was slated to be done without the Stimulus. The Stimulus did what it was meant to do. It created paid for temporary jobs for useless work. I should also mention that BB (Big Brother) used at least one company I did not use to do MY driveway because of the company’s reputation for taking short cuts.
