President Barack Obama spoke at American University Wednesday and gave one of the worst speeches of his presidency while comparing himself to JFK.
President John F. Kennedy delivered a landmark speech on arms control negotiations with the Soviet Union in 1963 at American University. Barack Obama gave a speech today on a nuclear “arrangement” that clears the path for Iran to get nuclear weapons while he also compared the GOP to the Iran hardliners who are continuously chanting, Death to America.
The nuclear deal which isn’t being handled as a treaty and was defined as an accord is now merely an “arrangement.”
“The agreement now reached between the international community and the Islamic Republic of Iran builds on this tradition of strong, principled policy diplomacy.
After two years of negotiations, we have achieved a detailed arrangement that permanently prohibits Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. It cuts off all of Iran’s pathways to a bomb. It contains the most comprehensive inspection and verification regime ever negotiated to monitor a nuclear program.”
He repeated his constant refrain that it’s this bad “arrangement” or it’s war. Meanwhile, our only leverage – sanctions – have been eliminated and his deal has caused some of Iran’s neighbors to threaten an arms race. Iran, a terror-sponsoring state now has hegemony in the region.
We are in more danger of war than we were before.
He flat-out lied about the sanctions – again.
“Now, let me pause here just to remind everybody that, when the interim deal was announced, critics, the same critics we are hearing from now, called it a historic mistake. They insisted Iran would ignore its obligations, they warned that the sanctions would unravel. They warned that Iran would receive a windfall to support terrorism.”
What is he talking about? The EU, Chinese, and Russian sanctions are gone thanks to these negotiations.
He condemned the Iraq War but forgot to mention his illegal Libyan War that destroyed the country. It is now a failed state.
According to Barack Obama, offensive “rhetoric and behavior” “emanates from parts of Iran”. Again, what is he talking about? The Ayatollah, the Mullahs and everyone in his government is leading the chants of Death to America.
“I recognize that resorting to force may be tempting in the face of the rhetoric and behavior that emanates from parts of Iran. It is offensive. It is incendiary. We do take it seriously.”
The speech didn’t get better. I’ve included the link to the text below.
Still the left loves him and his speeches. Liberal Kirsten Powers thought it was his best speech.
You can hear the president’s snarky comment comparing the GOP to the Death to America people in this clip.
The Atlantic interviewed Secretary of State John Kerry and the takeaway is that we “mustn’t screw the Ayatollahs.” Kerry said that if Congress rejects the deal, the Ayatollah will no longer trust us.
The Ayatollah continually says they will never trust us.
Kerry warned that if Congress rejects the Iran deal, it will confirm the anti-U.S. suspicions harbored by the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and eliminate any chance of a peaceful solution to the nuclear conundrum.
“This”—a congressional rejection—“will be the ultimate screwing,” he insisted. If Congress doesn’t confirm “there’s no way he’s ever coming back. He will not come back to negotiate. Out of dignity, out of a suspicion that you can’t trust America. America is not going to negotiate in good faith. It didn’t negotiate in good faith now, would be his point.”
It will be the “ultimate screwing”, and he’s very concerned about that.
“The ayatollah constantly believed that we are untrustworthy, that you can’t negotiate with us, that we will screw them,” Kerry said. “This”—a congressional rejection—“will be the ultimate screwing.” He went on to argue that “the United States Congress will prove the ayatollah’s suspicion, and there’s no way he’s ever coming back. He will not come back to negotiate. Out of dignity, out of a suspicion that you can’t trust America. America is not going to negotiate in good faith. It didn’t negotiate in good faith now, would be his point.”
Kerry also said he doesn’t know if they mean it when they say Death to Israel, Death to America and there is no point in talking about it – “it’s a waste of time here.”
The “ultimate screwing” as he so elegantly put it will be when the Ayatollah and the Mullahs have their bombs and their ICBMs.
