The White House has been lying about the video in the Benghazi case all along. They said it came from the intelligence talking points but there is an email which shows it came from the White House during the attacks.
The White House appears to not only have planned the Benghazi video story while the attack was still going on, they threatened YouTube if they didn’t take the video down.
Rep. Darrell Issa, House Oversight Committee Chairman incurred the wrath of Pelosi-obstructionist, Rep. Elijah Cummings, when he released information yesterday about an email he saw showing the White House communicated with YouTube while the Benghazi terror attack was taking place.
The White House appears to have been more concerned about setting up the fake story about the Mohammed video than they were about the lives of the people in Benghazi. They were also intent on bullying YouTube. They warned the website about the consequences of posting an anti-Islam video.
They appeared to have rushed into this narrative while the attack was taking place and without knowledge from the ground supporting the story. The information from the ground from the beginning of the attack was that it was a terror attack.
The White House apparently connected the attack to the video from the very beginning though there was no evidence that was the case.
The email was sent 9:11 p.m. ET 9/11/12 to the Diplomatic Security Command Center.
According to Issa, the email said: “White House is reaching out to UTube to advise ramifications of the posting of the Pastor Jon Video.”
From journalist Jon Karl:
A still-classified State Department e-mail says that one of the first responses from the White House to the Benghazi attack was to contact YouTube to warn of the “ramifications” of allowing the posting of an anti-Islamic video, according to Rep. Darrell Issa, the Republican chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
The memo suggests that even as the attack was still underway — and before the CIA began the process of compiling talking points on its analysis of what happened — the White House believed it was in retaliation for a controversial video.
The subject line of the e-mail, which was sent at 9:11 p.m. Eastern Time on the night of the attack, is “Update on Response to actions – Libya.” The was written hours before the attack was over.
Issa has asked the White House to declassify and release the document. In the meantime he has inserted a sentence from the e-mail in the Congressional Record.
“White House is reaching out to U-Tube [sic] to advice ramification of the posting of the Pastor Jon video,” the e-mail reads, according to Issa.
The White House appears to have lied again because they said the false story about the video came from the intelligence community’s talking points.
Issa said “the email shows the White House had hurried to settle on a false narrative — one at odds with the conclusions reached by those on the ground — before Americans were even out of harm’s way or the intelligence community had made an impartial examination of available evidence.”
Issa wants the email declassified and can only discuss portions of it.
Elijah Cummings, the biggest obstructionist in the House, believes that releasing this information to the public is abusive. He claims it is cherry-picked so perhaps he should also call for it to be de-classified so Americans can decide for themselves.
Elijah’s only role on any of these committees is to make them into a circus.
Elijah called the hearings investigating the IRS targeting “un-American” and falsely accused one of the victims – Catherine Englebrecht – a racist. He has been on a witch hunt, attacking her ever since.
Last January, he famously said Bush didn’t care about the troops but Obama does, the same Mr. Obama who hasn’t done a thing about the VA and only weighed in on the VA scandal after two weeks of pounding by his fellow Democrats and the media.
If he isn’t allowed to obstruct during hearings, he screams and rants.
The Benghazi select committee hearings should be very interesting.
Media Matters is attempting to debunk the seriousness of this latest revelation by bringing up the 9/14/12 report by Jake Tapper in which he says the White House is reaching out to YouTube. The difference of three days is enormous but also it should be noted that Media Matters just made Issa’s case. The White House gave the false impression on 9/14 that they were just reaching out to YouTube.
Media Matters is also trying to claim that Jon Karl’s reporting is inaccurate because there were two attacks and the first attack had ended when that email was sent, however, the Benghazi was one, long, continuous attack.
To say there were different attacks is as absurd now as when the White House first started to peddle it. Even if there were two attacks as opposed to a continuous assault with varying degrees of intensity, the White House didn’t know it was over after the first wave.
