It doesn’t instill confidence when an up-and-coming leader in the Republican Party tells us that the way to handle a dictatorial president is to quietly acquiesce by choosing the lesser of the evils that he offers.
Marco Rubio did that on Tuesday. He said we should sign onto the Senate Immigration reform bill because if we don’t, Obama might violate the Constitution and legalize all 11 million illegal immigrants and their tens of millions of family members on his own.
Actually, the Gang of Eight bill he is talking about does that anyway.
“If nothing happens in Congress, (Obama) will be tempted to issue an executive order like he did for the DREAM Act kids a year ago where he basically legalizes 11 million people by the sign of a pen,” Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said on “The Morning Show with Preston Scott” on Tallahassee radio station WFLA.
We can’t leave it, in my mind, the way it is because I think a year from now we could find ourselves with all 11 million people here legally under an executive order from the president, but no E-Verify, no more border security, no more border agents — none of the other reforms that we desperately need,” Rubio said.
No one is going to secure the border. It’s a pipe dream. If they wanted to secure the border, they would do it now.
Bobby Whithorne, White House spokesman, said the president would not be tempted to legalize 11 million people if you can believe anything that comes out of that office.
Marco Rubio might be right but I’d rather hear him letting out a war cry not waving the white flag of surrender.
