A home owner in Watertown ventured out today. His home had been swept earlier in the day. He saw blood on his boat in the yard, climbed up, lifted the tarp and saw a pool of blood and what appeared to be a body crumpled in the front of the boat. He backed off and called the police.
When the police arrived, 20 to 30 shots were fired but it is not known if the suspect shot off any rounds. Police announced the suspect was down after several minutes.
Dzhokbar was alive but refused to come out of the boat.
A hostage negotiator came on the scene and shortly after, an announcement was made that the suspect was taken into custody. Dzhokbar was taken away in an ambulance and is in serious condition. The police commissioner said he was non-responsive the entire time.
Dzhokbar allegedly had explosives on him.
