Wow, does this help set the tone for civil discourse or what?
My question is why are we funding planned parenthood when we have a 15 trillion dollar debt? Surely, the people who want it can afford to fund it without forcing the taxpayers to support it. According to Planned Parenthood’s own fact sheet, they performed 332,278 thousand abortions in 2009 Read more here: Numbers of Abortions Sixty percent of aborted babies in NYC are Black babies. Many Americans are morally opposed to abortions. Is it right to mandate they support it when it is against their core beliefs?
In any case, this argument is not about the abortion issue, it’s about what we should or should not fund when we are in a downward spiral of debt. We mustn’t forget that Medicaid is out there for poor women and Planned Parenthood is an unnecessary duplication of services.
Rep. Louise Slaughter, a New York Democrat, compared Republican efforts to revoke taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business to actions taken by the Nazi regime in Germany during World War II.
“This is probably one of the worst times we’ve seen because the numbers of people elected to Congress. I went through this as co-chair of the arts caucus,” Slaughter said, according to a CNS News report. ”In ’94 people were elected simply to come here to kill the National Endowment for the Arts. Now they’re here to kill women.” Read more here: GOP Killing Women Now
