Some people are just great weasels and Lois Lerner has made it as the Sentinel’s Weasel of the Week again!
Fox News reported that a Federal judge ordered the IRS to explain the lost Lerner emails. He also wants to know how the Lerner emails can be recovered.
U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan gave the tax agency 30 days to file a declaration by an “appropriate official” to address the computer issues with ex-official Lois Lerner.
The decision came Thursday as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch.
“In our view, there has been a cover-up that has been going on,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said. “The Department of Justice, the IRS, had an obligation, an absolute obligation … to alert the court and alert Judicial Watch as soon as they knew when these records were supposedly lost.”
While many emails are apparently lost forever, some emails of interest were produced Wednesday.
It took a year for the House and Government Oversight Committee to get the stunning emails that were discussed at yesterday’s hearing with the arrogant and unflappable John Koskinen. In the emails, Lois Lerner warned her colleagues to be careful about what they say in emails because Congress has been asking for them. She wrote to an IRS tech staffer asking whether the instant message communications were stored automatically. He said no but the records could be stored if employees copied them, she replied, “Perfect.”
Check out the emails for yourself:
Rep. Jim Jordan at yesterday’s hearings with the IRS head, John Koskinen:
The most startling fact to come out of the hearing today was that the IRS has not been questioned by the Department of Justice. Eric Holder has absolutely no intention of investigating the case of obvious targeting.
The leftists in the administration don’t like conservatives and tea party people. They didn’t care what laws they had to violate to silence them.
The GOP will not let this go until they get to as much of the truth as possible – good job!
