If it wasn’t over anti-Mohammed cartoons, it would have been some other excuse. Mr. Obama wants to limit the First Amendment and he will never let a good crisis go to waste.
President Barack Obama just ordered, through his White House Press Secretary, Josh Earnest, that the words “radical Islam” shall be replaced with “violent extremism based on a warped view of Islam.”
Using the excuse of protecting the military, he has sacrificed our fundamental right to free speech.
As reported by The Daily Caller:
“President Barack Obama has a moral responsibility to push back on the nation’s journalism community when it is planning to publish anti-jihadi articles that might cause a jihadi attack against the nation’s defense forces,” Earnest said in a White House daily briefing to reporters.
“The president…will not now be shy about expressing a view or taking the steps that are necessary to try to advocate for the safety and security of our men and women in uniform whenever journalists’ work may provoke jihadist attacks,” Earnest continued.
Mr. Obama cares about our military?
He’s actually supporting the insanity of the jihadis.
These jihadi attacks have nothing to do with cartoons. It’s a ruse used by thugs to control the mobs and Mr. Obama has decided to buy into it.
When Piss Christ was put on display at the Edward Tyler Nahem Gallery in New York City, Mr. Obama was silent. Christian genocide brought crickets from Obama though he did mention it in one speech but quickly followed it by saying Muslims represent the majority of victims.
Mr. Obama told the UN two years ago that “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam”
Besides being a Muslim sympathizer, Mr. Obama has been after our free speech rights since he came into office.
The press has covered for Obama for six years despite the many threats his office has hurled their way or maybe it’s because of them.
He is holding an anti-extremism summit February 18th and one of the topics will be hate speech. The UN and the EU are insisting on a global hate speech bill.
Mr. Obama’s minion in the Senate Ed Markey has pushed a hate speech bill in the past which is still languishing in Congress.
The Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014 (S.2219) would scrutinize the role of telecommunications—the Internet, radio and TV—”in encouraging hate crimes based on gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.” It’s companion bill, HR 3878, was introduced by Rep. Hakeem Jefferies. Under these bills, the Obama administration gets to decide the definition of hate speech in the media.
The bill was supported by 45 civil rights and social justice groups including the very left of center Media Alliance. Both bills were introduced at the same time last April – very suspicious.
Mr. Obama controls FOIA requests, the main vehicle by which the press – who are supposed to be watchdogs – scrutinizes the administration.
The Associated Press (AP), not exactly a right wing news gathering service, reported on March 17, 2014 that the administration censored, delayed or denied access to government files requested under the Freedom of Information Act using legal exceptions.
Mr. Obama is, as Politico wrote last year that the “puppet master” who has “taken old tricks for shaping coverage (staged leaks, friendly interviews) and put them on steroids using new ones (social media, content creation, precision targeting). And it’s an equal opportunity strategy: Media across the ideological spectrum are left scrambling for access.”
“The results are transformational,” Politico continued. “With more technology, and fewer resources at many media companies, the balance of power between the White House and press has tipped unmistakably toward the government. This is an arguably dangerous development, and one that the Obama White House — fluent in digital media and no fan of the mainstream press — has exploited cleverly and ruthlessly.
Last year, a planned FCC news media study, the “Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs”, also known as CIN, would have put government monitors in the newsroom and in TV stations, even in radio stations. It’s on hold for now.
The FCC claims they want to glean information about “the process by which stories are selected” and how often stations cover “critical information needs,” along with “perceived station bias” and “perceived responsiveness to underserved populations” from radio and TV broadcasters.
They are including newspapers in the study even though the FCC has no authority over them except what it is now assuming in what promises to be yet another government overreach.
Their categories of “critical information” cover the “environment” and “economic opportunities.” Undoubtedly, issues around the green agenda, redistribution, income inequality will be covered.
NY Times writer, David Sanger, commented, “This is [the] most closed, control-freak administration I’ve ever covered.”
The Supreme Court Citizens’ United decision allows Republican groups to donate money secretly to politicians. The Democrats in Congress want to pass a bill to circumvent the decision. It would actually repeal the free speech provision of the First Amendment.
What will it take to get people to respond?
If the media caves to this bully, they truly are of no value to the American people.
