Ron Bloom, negotiator and lawyer for the steelworkers union, has also had important roles with the UAW and SEIU. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury and directs the staff of the President’s Task Force on the Automotive Industry. He is also the Administration’s Senior Counselor for Manufacturing Policy.
One anonymous Obama Administration official, describing Bloom’s role in the Chrysler restructuring said, “Ron has been the quiet force that relentlessly and aggressively knocked people’s heads together.” (WSJ,Car Bailout Talks Follow Bloom’s Map).
