In The last days of the Obama administration, the Energy Department banned the production and distribution of your three-way bulb, the globe lightbulb and others. Many companies planned to stop making them today. Donald Trump signed an executive order today that stops the regulation.
The globe and three-way bulbs are back!
The 2007 light bulb ban in effect outlawed most incandescent light bulbs by imposing efficiency standards on ordinary light bulbs. Congress exempted a few types of light bulbs, including bug lights, three-way bulbs, “rough service lamps,” and some decorative bulbs, such as globe-shaped bulbs.
In the waning days of the Obama administration, the energy overlords banned most of the remaining exempted bulbs.
The light pollution scenario is bunk. There is no pollution. Pollution implies contamination and there is none. Some don’t like the fact that it lights up the sky but that’s not pollution. The new lights do the same thing.
It’s perpetuated by greedy companies who want regulations to feather their nest.
The land of Edison no longer makes very many light bulbs. I am glad Edison didn’t have to live to see this.
That’s not the end of the story however, maybe the government should research and ban all lightbulbs – go back to candlelight. The new green lightbulbs, besides their inherent ugliness, might cause cancer. Plus there are absurd procedures to clean up a broken bulb in offices. And get this, some say they can’t be near your head because they create an electrical smog.

The lights are often duller and they’re more expensive. The ones that aren’t duller glare.
The EPA is the enforcer of many of the 3,000 Obama regulations.
Gina McCarthy did say we will “have to change the way we live”.
“Let’s talk about a few things key things that are happening now,” she said. “It’s because our laws have teeth, “she said. “It’s because EPA is empowered to enforce them. And it’s because of your work to uphold the integrity of our environmental statutes. Enforcement is democracy in action.”
The Constitution has no place in the degree of regulation governance we have been subjected to. Get the government out of every petty little thing, like what lightbulb a person uses.
Stay away from our lightbulbs, regulation terrorists! We want to decide what bulb we will use.
