Donald Trump unloaded on Senator Cruz last night after Cruz won 48% to 35% and picked up 33 of the 36 delegates. His statement which his campaign delivered to the media began by calling him “Lyin’ Ted.” and accused him of breaking the law by coordinating with his super PAC. There is no evidence of that.
“Donald J. Trump withstood the onslaught of the establishment yet again,” it said. “Lyin’ Ted Cruz had the Governor of Wisconsin, many conservative talk radio show hosts, and the entire party apparatus behind him.”
The Trump campaign then accused Cruz of coordinating with his super PAC, in violation of federal election laws. No evidence was given, however, to support the serious allegation.
“Not only was he propelled by the anti-Trump Super PAC’s spending countless millions of dollars on false advertising against Mr. Trump, but he was coordinating with his own Super PAC’s (which is illegal) who totally control him.”
Trump called Cruz a “puppet” and a “Trojan horse” of the party bosses though his history has been one of fighting party bosses.
“Ted Cruz is worse than a puppet— he is a Trojan horse, being used by the party bosses attempting to steal the nomination away from Mr. Trump,” the statement continued. “We have total confidence that Mr. Trump will go on to win in New York, where he holds a substantial lead in all the polls, and beyond.”
The statement concluded arguing that Trump is “the only candidate” that has a chance of defeating Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, winning in New York, and making America Great Again. Bret Baier asked Dr. Carson, a Trump supporter, about the statement given that Dr. Carson talks about elevating the campaigns and uniting the party. Dr. Carson said he hopes we will hear policy issues.
Ted Cruz is tied with Trump nationally for the first time with 35 percent support compared to Trump’s 39 percent support, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll just released. A month ago, Cruz was 20 points behind.
The real story of the night isn’t about Trump or Cruz. It’s about Bernie Sanders who has beat Hillary Clinton in 6 of 7 of the last states with 65% of the Wisconsin Democrats saying they believe Bernie’s objectives are “realistic”. That’s the real news. Bernie won youth and independents. The only reason Hillary is beating this socialist is because of the rigged super delegates though they could switch. People better hope these two candidates stop fighting each other and one wins. Ted Cruz victory speech:
