Trump’s campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told reporters that Donald Trump will not join Thursday’s Fox news debate and will have a competing event instead.
“We’ll have an event here in Iowa, with potentially another network, to raise money for Wounded Warriors and Fox will go from having probably 24 million viewers for the debate to, you know, 2 million viewers,” Lewandowski said.
No one bothered to tell the RNC or Roger Ailes.
This isn’t just about Megyn Kelly asking a contentious question during the debate. Politico announced before the debate that Megyn Kelly was planning to take him out. Megyn Kelly spends time each evening on her show discussing the Trump candidacy with people who don’t think much of him. She gives time to Trump supporters also.
Trump for his part rips into Kelly on Twitter and Instagram, calling her a “bimbo”.
Trump, via his campaign manager, decided to tell a left-wing magazine of his decision – Politico.
Trump was going to do the debate but he changed his mind when Fox sent out [his words] a second “wise guy” press release that prompted him to say “bye, bye”. Trump added that these stations shouldn’t make so much money on these debates. They should give the money to the wounded warriors.
Earlier today, Trump posted a video on Instagram in which he says Megyn Kelly is “really biased” against him. “She knows that, I know that, everyone knows that. Do you really think she can be fair at a debate,” he said.
This is the Fox statement issued after the video went up:
We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president — a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.
Fox will not replace Megyn Kelly and said in a statement that the entire network stands behind her.
Trump has a poll on Twitter and as of 11:40 est, 59% want him to go to the debate.
